Player-contributed press

Rather than ramble on as Captain Arr did last month, I respond with two thoughts.

- I am mystified and amazed that Arr was able to twist my words in his mind to think that I thought his cause was just. Any who wish to see the complete exchange to judge for yourselves, contact me at mhughes@rsva.trw.com.

- I am disappointed that Arr is so lacking in imagination that he must stoop to the tried and trite tactic of making comparisons to Hitler. We could draw more accurate analogies to describe the behavior of PLATO, but refuse to do so.

As of the end of this turn, war will resume. While the New Empire will not attack neutrals, PLATO may resume their previous tactics of attacking first and asking questions later. Neutral parties should remian clear of the area.

For the New Empire

From the TIBs: as always, see our charter at: http:/members.aol.com/seehawk42/tibs.htm

On to other business..... Walt Pesch of the South Tollus Company responded to our g2 mail list post today. Since our post in the Times last week was merely a reprint of that post, we would like to take the opportunity to respond here as well.

In his response Walt takes offense that TIBs has chosen to make the negotiations of the Tollus border public. He then goes on to respond to several assertions made by myself in the name of the TIBs about the current state of affairs on Tollus. The effect (I assume the desired one) is to make the reader believe that TIBs made those assertions in a public forum in an attempt to make the negotiations public. In fact, those assertions were made in a private email to a player that contacted me ref the original post. They were not public and were not meant to be public. The first time these issues were made public was in Walt's g2 list post dated 12/2. I am not offended by the fact that they are made public. If Walt wants to print my emails to the list, that is his perogative. But I do take offense to that fact that he attempted to present those emails in a light that made it look like I was the one that made them public. They were written in a private email and were not made public until Walt posted them on the g2 list.

In an effort to keep private negotiations private, I will not respond point by point to Walt's accusations, or defenses of his previous statements. I will merely state that TIBs does not fully agree with Walt's interpretation of the events at hand and we will discuss it with him in private email.

I suggest that Walt, and any other concerned parties, reread either our original post to the list or last issue of the Times. There it will be seen that TIBs in no way attempted to make any debate public. Quite the contrary. We suggested that any player on Tollus, STC or non-STC, contact us directly. ie; privately. The only laundry that has been aired publicly was done so by Walt of the STC.

As for the original post. We still stand by it. We had negotiated in good faith with Walt as the representative of the STC. He indicated that he wished to garrison the continent on a first come, first served basis. We reluctantly agreed. Our post to the list and to the Times was not an attempt to force STC to negotiate in public. It was, and is, and attempt to make contact with all players on Tollus.

In that regard, we have received only one response to our post, and it turns out that was from an STC player. We have not yet been contacted by any other faction or group. I would urge any player on Tollus to drop us a line. We do not enjoy the restrictive nature of the assumed treaty on Tollus (as detailed in last week's Times) and would very much like to loosen those restrictions in relation to any and all factions. I urge any player on Tollus to contact us as soon as they are able.

Thanks, and good luck.

The following message was brought to you by a herald of the Lords of the Crown :

To all noble men in Southern Provinia,

In the Council of Lords this month we will discuss land claims and borders. All who want to participate are invited to send word to Sir Codric.

Everyone looking for a place roughly between PLATO and the Harn- alliance will surely benefit from talking to us. There is room for everybody. If we get together now we'll avoid troubles in the future.

So speaks the open Lord of the Crown.

Shadow Alliance Public Announcement No.5. ID TSA-0475903

The Shadow Alliance will soon be deciding on a possible intervention in the current TIBs/STC situation on Tollus.

We _strongly_ recommend that the leaders of any involved alliances, including those above, get in contact with us at are usual address (The messages will be forwarded to our Foreign Affairs Minister) to discuss their views on the situation. Of course, we know it's none of our business, but we like to stick our noses in this sort of thing and as long as the rest of you take us seriously we'll continue to get away with it.

If not, we may be forced to act solely on our intelligence reports, which may prove not to be one hundred percent accurate. In fact, since it has been pretty much proved to all that we can barely find our butts with both hands, its actually highly likely that our "intelligence" reports are a bunch of crap.

Our decision to intervene stems not from the war itself, as we understand how it came about, but purely from the fact that we are a bunch of silly buggers who feel its our sacred right and duty to stick our nose into anything we darn well please.

New factions are advised not to start in the Drassa area. Different reports vary on the danger of the place, but it is generally agreed that it is extremely volatile. At this moment, G1 is one of the safest places to start. Its controlling alliance, the AOO, have all dropped from the game, leaving lots of unoccupied castles for the unwashed to move into.

As ever, The Shadow Alliance is open for new members, although why anyone would wish to join such a bunch of idiots is beyond us.

Please visit our Web site at http://www.geocities.com/area51/rampart/7123/

Or send us an E-Mail at shadowalliance@hotmail.com

But don't call us when the Spice Girls are on TV, because then we are "busy." (nudge nudge wink wink say no more)
