Food Chain Game

Food Chain is an open-ended simulation game of evolving species. Players design species of animals, which compete against each other in the jungle. Players submit orders by sending email to an email server at the site pbm.com.

There are currently 4 "jungles" running on pbm.com. Follow the links to find out their current status. You can also view statistics on the number of food chain players, and look at the food chain hall of fame.

The novice jungle, with one cycle every 24 hours. Please play here to gain experience, but once you've mastered the game, move up to the normal jungles.

The normal jungle, with one cycle every 24 real-time hours. The current game has been running since May 28, 1998.
fchain-6
The 6-hour jungle, with one cycle every 6 real-time hours. The current game has been running since May 28, 1998.
fchain-e
The experimental jungle. One cycle per 6 hours -- currently it runs a modified version of the software in which evade is doubled.

The cpu, network, and disk used by these games are donated by Shadow Island Games, a commercial play-by-email game company.
