Player-contributed press

We have a new world before us. This unknown, unexplored land mass is just waiting for someone to find all it has in store.

We, The Travelers, are attempting to map this large world, but we can not do it alone. If you would be willing to donate the land portions of your turn to our efforts, we will be collecting that data and sending out maps to our contributitors. ( Meaning: If you help us, we'll help you )

We also collect land claims and lore information.

Send us mail: hc8@g2.pbm.com!

Greetings from the Lost Magi. We are looking for where we will call home.

The PFLOICBLPNEA (people's front for the liberation of Olympia and it's charters, both land and people, not to exclude anyone) is hereby charged with infringing on the intellectual property of the TIBHODWKPLYTATMQAS TNIBTINOTB (The Icy Black Hand Of Death What Kills People Like You That Ask Too Many Questions And Sticks Their Nose In Business That Is None Of Their Business). Namely, the use of an extremely long and cumbersome acronym for the name of their alliance. These charges are based on the grounds that our acronym is much larger and more cumbersome. The PFLOICBLPNEA is respectively asked to change their name to avoid further infringement on said intellectual property. We in the TIBHODWKPLYTATMQASTNIBTINOTB feel that our claime to this intellectual property is more concrete, and legally binding, because: 1) we thought of it first 2) by issuing this signed press release the TIBHODWKPLYTATMQAS TNIBTINOTB steps out of the shadows of rumors and hushed whispers and exists plainly and in the open for all to see 3) we said so.

So, PFLOICBLPNEA, to avoid further legal recourse, please change your name now. Immediately. We mean it! Right Now!! WE'RE NOT KIDDING AROUND HERE!!!! CHANGE YOUR #@%&? NAME RIGHT NOW OR WE WILL GET REALLY, REALLY MAD!!!! Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

From the diary of Oswald Vingt:

For better or worse, our voyage north has begun. Noting that none of our other neighbors in Greyfell have elected to take the sea route, myself and the other Technologists are expecting a lonely voyage, unless we sail to the east or west, nearer the other entry cities. We as yet have little idea what to expect; there is plenty of empty space on the map for large continents and islands, but it could as well be mostly ocean.

My colleague Claus has begun study into "Magic" as he calls it; however, I am thus far unimpressed. When pressed, he has shown me how his parlor tricks work. Sleight of hand and a quick mind are the only thing out of the ordinary I have seen thus far. He is keeping an open mind thus far; we will see how his studies progress.

Rumors

The people of Provinia were happy, prosperous and at peace. However, the markings of Evil have returned to threaten all.

Thus, the "Call of Orders" has been sent to those who have pledged their lives to fight evil whereever it may be and protect the general populous of Provinia.

And so the Orders stand ready: The Shield - Soldiers with the COURAGE to stand up against the unjust. The Sword - Swordmans with STRENGTH to fight against the foul & wicked. The Eagle - Knights whose HONOR & DUTY is to defend the Realm against evil.

Hence, here stand the "Guardians of the Realm", ready to defend her against all who are unjust, immoral, and just simply BAD TO THE BONE.

There is talk of a new faith, more of a philosophy, spreading across the land, most notably in Greyfell. It is known only as "the Way." Both nobles and peasants, eager to adopt its precepts, have donned the Pendant of the Way to show their faith. "It's the Way to do things," one peasant was heard to say. "I think it's the Way to go," another said. Some, exposed to its fatalistic nature, disagree, while still donning the Pendant. "I think it's Way out there, myself, but I'll give anything a try," said one noble who wished to rename anonymous.

The PFLOICBLPNEA will Claim its Land Next Turn. We will be accepting Applications very Soon, but not Before we Demonstrate our Power so that Others will Know We are Serious.

finally, finally, finally we leave Harm. Oh happy day!

Someone Asked: >1) In G1 Heal did not need to be researched, while in G2 it does >(according to the lore sheet for magic). Is this deliberate or a typo?

The Lore sheet is quite consistant with the published rules. A typo appears unlikely.

The Same Someone Asked: >2) If a contract noble defects as a result of not issuing an HONOR >order is the noble point(s) recovered immediately? A subsidiary issue >is this:

From the G2 changes document, under "Death, NP conservation:

2. Characters which renounce service becaused of lapsed contract or fear loyalty do not immediately return the NPs to the previous owner. The previous owner of these characters will not receive NPs for them until they swear to a new player faction or die.

That appears to be sufficiently clear.

The Same Someone Also Asked: >3) Other than by resurrection, is there any other way to permanently >loose a noble point?

None that are obvious.

>1) In G1 Heal did not need to be researched, while in G2 it does >(according to the lore sheet for magic). Is this deliberate or a typo?

Heal is no longer a sub-skill of Magic, it is now a sub-skill of Religion.

>2) If a contract noble defects as a result of not issuing an HONOR >order is the noble point(s) recovered immediately?

No. The NPs are recovered when the noble is recruited by another faction.

>3) Other than by resurrection, is there any other way to permanently >loose a noble point?

Not unless you count spending them to learn skills.

Here is a taste of the great rum runners, Ships that sailed on the velvet harbor, Crews that broke the jug & poured your blood like flowing rum upon the sand. Sinking down, down, down, upon the sand upon the sea, upon the hills of liquid green, they rise & fall, they rise again, their dreams a tattered sail in the wind. from Tales of the Great Rum Runners, by Robert Hunter

Myths of Olympia.

Why is Drassa the city of the reclusive and the antisocial ?

In the days of the Empire Drassa was the city of imperial exile. If the Emperor took a dislike to you. You spent the rest of your life in Drassa. This policy lasted for centuries and Drassa became so full of exiles that just meeting someone from Drassa became a suspect activity. So good citizens avoided people they knew had ever been to Drassa. This led in turn to Drassa becoming a city of self exile. If you needed to avoid someone for a very long time. Like a creditor or a spouse. You moved to Drassa. This population gave Drassa a less than welcoming attitude to "just visiting" strangers.

But it was not just the unlucky loosers in court politics that were exiled to Drassa but any person that got on the bad side of the Emperor. So Drassa became the dumping ground for Ex-lovers, booring entertainers and tasteless chefs. i.e. If you served the emperor and were less than the best. You could end up in Drassa.

Sometimes the exlies were done in mass for peevish reasons. The emperor Bogomil the XII disliked poetry of any kind and every poet in the empire was banished to Drassa. This collection of poets and ex-lovers may explain why even to this day Drassa is known as the source of most of Olympias dirty limericks

You wouldn't believe what I've found. What romance, what excitement. What a stench.

Nobles from Yellowleaf are conspiring together to overthrow the existing order by developing technology not magic!
