Player-contributed press

The Lords of Revelstone sadly announce that their policy of unlimited access to western Drucartan is hereby suspended until further notice. The general alarm over threatened invasion has made the people of Drucartan suspicious of strangers and mistrustful. The Lords themselves mislike this attitude- the forces of Despite have claimed a victory if there is no hospitality for strangers. If there is to be war, it will come with the visage of a friend as like that of a stranger, or it will come with suddenness. It boots nothing to try to avoid its snares, because it must be faced at some time. This is the task that faces our generation. Nonetheless, the open invite policy of the Lords disturbs our neighbors, and exposes them to a not-inconsiderable risk. Accordingly, we ask that any visitors, even _our_ guests, accord with the Sen Clan's request for notification of arrival. In these dark times, it is said that there are few settled places where men can land and not be attacked on sight. This is reason for sorrow in the Land. -Mhoram, for the Council of the Lords of Revelstone

"NEW from Revelstone Distilleries: 'Orc Oil Ice-Brew': Crippling abdominal cramping, hypersensitivity to light, and prolonged paranoiac hallucinations now _smoother_ than ever in a new ice-blue bottle!"

VO: Some people will just never see eye-to-eye: DOGMATIX: You are a vicious murderer and you consort with murderers! You oppress the weak, slaughter the innocent, and shelter the foulest of criminals, all to bleed out the slightest accretion of your waning power! Your foul reign is a blight on the planet! BASTRESTRIC T.A.: My power is _not_ waning! I grow mightier by the day! And you are not fit to judge me- the mobs may think you noble, but you are a cur elevated from the masses only by your pathetic, failed attempts to usurp my power. It is your day in the sun that ends! We are beating you back, and soon the day will come when your eyeless skull sits on my mantle, and every skill you had serves me! DOGMATIX: Ah, bite me! BASTRESTRIC: You dare?! [BASTRESTRIC begins to summon an evilly glowing red ball of arcane energy, but a waitress bearing a tray with two bottles of ORC OIL ICE-BREW steps between them.] WAITRESS: Excuse me, gentlemen. Your two bottles of Orc Oil Ice-brew. DOGMATIX: Ahh, smoother than ever! BASTRESTRIC: _I_ like the new ice-blue packaging! DOGMATIX: It's the brew that briefly refreshes, and then plunges the user into a world of gastrointestinal fireworks, punctuated by vertigo, loss of motor control, waking apnea, spontaneous pulmonary haemorrhaging, and prolonged paranoiac hallucinations. BASTRESTRIC: Funny, I never noticed any hallucinations. DOGMATIX: Yeah, but what a kick! BASTRESTRIC: I guess there is one thing we agree on. WAITRESS: I'll bring you two another round. [WAITRESS DEPARTS. BASTRESTRIC and DOGMATIX look at each other.] DOGMATIX: Did you tip her? BASTRESTRIC: [evil laughter] [Laughter. DISSOLVE to a bottle of ORC OIL ICE-BREW] VO: Orc Oil Ice-brew. The semi-toxic liquid substance that brings people together. [Closing image of BASTRESTRIC and DOGMATIX atop a pile of bodies in a back alley, twitching spasmodically. Clutched by rictus in each of their hands is a half-full bottle of ORC OIL ICE-BREW]

-- Lords of Revelstone [ad4]

Visitors to DRUCARTAN are asked to procure a visa before entering the area. Drucartan is a very peacefull continent, where AOO and non AOO factions live in peace and harmony. No noble has ever been attacked in Drucartan by another noble.

If you want a visa, please send a message to John Sen[m6f], describing the nobles in the party, the size of the party, and the reason for visiting Drucartan. There is no fee, and requests will only be refused in rare ( i.e. I am bringing 2000 men (or dragons) to kill all nobles ) circumstances.

READ THIS BEFORE COMING TO GENTLEWIND, NEWLEAF, AND ENVIRONS

Visitors are welcome to the area controlled by the Cohorts of Colossus [vo4], as long as they obtain travel permits first. Not all requests will be granted. The affected area includes the land provinces bx25-bx27, by24-by27, and bz27.

To avoid possible misunderstandings, do not enter this area without a permit, nor collect resources without express permission. Violators of this policy may be subject to arrest.

I only rarely refuse reasonable requests, and then only because I've already granted my quota.

This policy helps ensure the security of all nobles within these lands. If you are interested in a franchise on collecting resources in one of these provinces, please contact me. I have friendly arrangements with several factions along these lines.

Has anyone tried to create a map database program for Olympia? I've been thinking about writing a simple graphics program with a simple grid maps showing locations and area information. Send any ideas, questions or comments to Raymond at 73737.2704@compuserve.com.

Is it possible to crossbreed two animals to make a nazgul?

Unsigned signifiers have no signifieds.

---> MAFOC: GO TO HADES NOW. DO NOT PASS GO. <---

So let's hear the latest news on Oleg vs. AOO. Has he been wiped out yet? I hear his dog isn't doing so well....

Do winged horses fight? Can you make winged warmounts?

Yess! Our castle is finally almost complete, and we are looking forward to joining the list of the 62 other castle owning factions. Sigh, only 6 months later than expected.

Mount Olympus, burning bright. In the darkness of the night. What dread hand or evil eye, dare flame thy fearful symmetry?

There are a lot of hills in feary, But it still looks FLAT to me.

So Marat needs more of a "buffer state".... What's wrong, isn't there enough 'give' in your lebensraum, ducky? Doggies barking keeping you up at night?

yikes! 60+ dragons on Mt. Olympus!

AOO in Tollus. AOO taking over Faerie. AOO in Hades. When will you guys get the idea: this isn't just a just a local Provinia squabble?

If Marat got Ebola... would anyone care?

The figures looked more or less human. And they were engaged in religion. You could tell by the knives (it's not murder if you do it for a god). -- (Terry Pratchett, Small Gods)

French Toast! I hear there is going to be a French Toast feed. Or is that Gaul Toast? No matter -- I understand that with some butter and syrup, it is very tasty. Yum, yum.

Clifford's Market Database is still in business. Many markets, many commodities, all out there for trade and profit. For each market report you provide that is not already in the database, you can get a report for the commodity of your choice, each week. The report tells what cities buy and sell the item, what cities produce the item. Don't know where to sell rose perfume? Clifford knows. Write w4t@g1.pbm.com for more information.

Behold, a new land, free of the ravages of civilization. It is here that I shall dwell, with the wild creatures to attend me, until the day when I am strong enough to avenge the villains who have wronged me. The day of retribution draws near.

Why can't Harpies fly? They have wings. Are they on strike or something?

Curse the AOO! Marat killed my hamster!

Great! I've discovered the breeding skill. Now I can play with those foul creatures around me. Must be a lot of fun! Has anyone tried something interesting, like a winged ox?

How can 9 rats beat: 2 nobles, 15 peasants 5 crossbowmen, 15 pikemen?

There don't seem to be any magic barriers to the east of the land to the south of the IC. I wonder if there is anything being hidden behind/beneath the barrier in the Atnos channel?

On a eu un message en francais deja, et comme je trouve qu'il y a les autre francaphones je sais qu'il est possible d'ouvrir mon petit restaurant " Chez Piere ". "Lost??"

"Well..."

"You got lost??"

"Those plains are rather featureless, sister."

"Our destination was east. We went west. How hard is that?"

"I'm going to be hearing about this for a while, aren't I?"

The Barren City. What a charming name for a settlement! I wonder if the AOO laid it to waste or if it was always such a forsaken spot?

The seas will be ruled shortly !!!

The sound of feathery wings rustle through the woods.

Ah, to study the divine mysteries at Liberty's Harum! The mistress is most accommodating.

As we continue our journey through the great northern seas, I am amazed how civilized things are. Every island seems to have at least the rudiments of civilization, and despite the snow and ice, life seems to be remarkably easy. The quest to explore the great unknown of Olympia is less dangerous than one might imagine. Indeed, it seems that it is far more dangerous to remain on Provinia than to journey far away.

Those visiting Pallia are welcome to stay at the Castle of the Wanderers [g26] in [dd03]. Your host is count Ejiro [u0b].

Fog is an evil thing. I was wandering and lost and could not find my way free of its entangling grasp. I shall have to find a way to combat this insidious natural occurance.

The ' Bermuda Triangle ' situated south east from IC seems to be moving. I have lost one roundship, and an ally another. Is it controlled by someone, or some alliance????? Perhaps the AOO would know !

Old AOO Proverb: "You can lead a horse to water, and you can have fifteen hundred bodies hold him down while you force thousands of gallons down his throat". (But then have a bunch of misleading Times posts and deny, lie, and confuse the facts with fantasy.)

Drums beat in the east. Outside the walls I hear them screaming for blood. Prehaps two dozen soldiers? -Newbie Reflections

The information about Olympia says the average player has 10 nobles. Am I just falling well behind my peers? I have 6 and I've been playing for 6 months.

Would the Liberty Confederacy kindly repost thier message, or at least thier contact info? When the dog brought my copy of the Times, your article got mangled. An interested party.

Heard aboard Purple Haze [ki1l], MAFOC Pirate galley, hidden in Fogbank First mate: "Those snotty AOO cretins will never notice us in here!" Captain: "Shhh! Here they come! "

Heard aboard AOO Chlamydia [bo0b], AOO War galley, enroute to S. Tollus Lookout: "Fogbank ho!" Captain: "Where away?" Lookout: "Dead ahead!" Captain: "Reverse oars!" Lookout: "Too late Captain... Aeeeiiiiii!" Captain: "Aeeeiiiiii!" Crew: "Aeeeiiiiii!" Chlamydia: "CRUNCH! glub glub glub"

I want Gate Crystals, 500 gold or trade for other things (t9x@g1.pbm.com).

People in a city who are set to defend a structure, like a castle or tower or something, that is immediately in that city should fight if someone attacks the structure, but shouldn't fight if someone gets into the structure and then attacks people while inside, right?

What's the only socially redeeming value of Newbies? There's an endless supply of them.

So, how do you catch Dragons anyway?

I need a little time, To think it over, I need a little space, Just on my own, I need a little time, To find my freedom, I need a little...

What do people find the most useful form of magic?

Seven years, five months have passed since we began our quest. Our castle is complete, and the boring work of providing garrisons for nearby provinces procedes. It is a great pity that armies require gold; hunting monsters is much more fun, and a better occupation for a noble than installing garrisons and collecting taxes!

I've got a question: Can anybody help me? How many Americans, Englishmen Scots, Frenchmen or Germans are their playing Olympia Only by the Compuserve or other Computeradresses I can't tell Please answer to the Times thanx

Does anybody now how many wolves can kill an AOO-Member I don't know they run to fast --Wolfman
