Locate character broken ?

I've recieved a report that the spell Locate character [847]
no longer works, always giving the message "[xxxx] is not a character"
even for nobles that are known to be alive. Can anyone confirm
or deny this? Has anyone had "use 847" work for them in the last
few turns? (You don't need to admit *who* you were trying to
locate :-), just whether or not the spell worked for you.) If
not, when was the last time that it did work?
