ANNOUNCEMENT ============

After wandering the torus for a hundred and sixteen months the Red Nectar faction has finally had enough of province rezoning red tape and unscrupulous stone subcontractors and has elected to look for a suitable fiefdom elsewhere. Having found a spiritual heir in the enthusiastic young factions of the Blues Alliance we cede all our meager possessions to them with hope that the old seats of power cut them some slack. No orcs were harmed in the running of this faction.

-- Red Nectar [dw2]

In just a minute Princess Llewelyn (age 6) will perform her version of the Dance of the Butterfly. She will be accompanied by Whistler on his wooden flute. Whistler wrote this tune, for this evening, as a special gift for the king...

Is She ready?

OK She is looking this way and seems ready to start...

INTRODUCING Princess Llewelyn, Lady of the Mountain

And now for our next act....

Well, we made it around the world. I expect that the Grey Bird wasn't the first. So who else claims to have done it?

Arlon Greyfletch

-- House Greyfletch [pb7]

> > I hear that the AOO have opened Hades to all travelors. Is this > true? >

No. I will still eat the tasty ones. The rest will get Last Rites, though. I will help people out of the Pit of Hades (can't kill 'em permanently, so might as well get rid of them as quickly as possible), but that's it.

The Order of the Yellow Peacocks is undertaking and expedition for the Royal Geographic Society. We are journeying to the southeastern corner of the map. If anyone has any objections, comments, suggestions or anything else, I would be delighted to hear from you. You can contact me at rww@ica.net. Also, the answer to the riddle is water.

-- Order of the Yellow Peacocks [rk8]

The Spanish Inquisition is currently undertaking an expedition for the Royal Geographic Society. The Comfy Chair [im9k] is sailing to lands where no noble has gone before. But if YOU are standing already on the "new" land, do not feel disturbed and please have patience with this inquisitive explorers.

NEW MEMBERSHIP

We are very pleased to announce the addition of The Order of the Dark Night as a Charter Member of the Society. The Order has given us complete map information for the continent of Krussos, for which we are most grateful.

THE RGS WEB SITE

The web site provided for us by the First Bank of Provinia is undergoing major changes at this time. In addition to new graphics, there will be increased submissions from the RGS Archives, uploaded over the next few weeks.

The new addresses are:

http://194.177.182.12/olympia/rgs.htm (the Society) http://194.177.182.12/olympia/fbop.htm (the Bank) http://194.177.182.12/olympia (main index)

Our sincere thanks to the Bank for making this resource available to us!

THE ROYAL GEOGRAPHICAL SOCIETY

is a non-political, non-aligned Organization devoted to the exploration of Olympia and its environs. Each week, we publish our findings in the New Atlas, which is distributed to the Membership at large. We are currently seeking new Members, who must be Factions in good standing, and who must also satisfy the following criteria:

* Charter Membership. A large, one-time gift of new mapping information, or agreement to undertake an RGS Expedition, or a significant contribution of resources in support of the Society and its cause. Charter Members are announced each week in the Olympia Times. They receive updates of the New Atlas on a regular basis, and gain access to the RGS archives.

* Affilitate Membership. Any reasonable contribution of new mapping information entitles a Faction to Affiliate status. The identities of our Affiliates are kept strictly secret. They receive an update of the Atlas upon each submission of new information.

ASSISTANCE FOR STARTING FACTIONS

The Society extends the hand of friendship to all recently-formed Factions. We will send any such Faction one copy of the New Atlas, free of obligation, together with whatever advice and assistance our humble Organization can provide.

For more information, contact our Representative, the Honorable Brett Miller, at 103534.1454@compuserve.com .

Monthly notice: every new visitor to either of our two fair isles should notify us in advance.

-- The Crazy Quilters [vn7]

Brotherhood update: 8 factions for, 2 against, 2 undecided.

We must have far better response than this, if the organization is to succeed...

If any of you have not yet received the Brotherhood proposal, please contact my assistant, Brett Miller, at 103534.1454@compuserve.com . He will see that you get a copy without delay.

May Atnerks smile upon us, and forever show us the Way.

Someone Asked: > New Riddle: I run smoother than any rhyme, I love to fall but cannot > climb. I tremble at each breath of air, and yet can heaviest burdens > bear...?

You're all wet.

Someone Else Asked: > Q: Is anyone ever across Olympia from east to west yet?

Well, it would appear that House Greyfletch has just finished such a trip, according to their postings. The RGS map certainly seems to support the claim. I doubt they were the first, but they were the first to get it on the map.

Yet Another Someone Asked: > Does a ship have a total weight? If it does then you should be able > to portage it accross land with enough oxen?

Nope, a ship can't be carried by anything. I'm afraid it's stuck there, a monument to reading the rules.

Still Someone Else Asked: > Why isn't SWIMMING a skill?!?!

Everyone knows how to swim. They're just not in shape enough to do it for 20 miles.

Then Someone *Else* Asked: > I hear that the AOO have opened Hades to all travelors. Is this > true?

Why not go and find out?

-- The Answer Guy (not dead, just on an extended vacation)

> I hear that the AOO have opened Hades to all travelors. Is > this true?

Yes - and the Chateau has been turned into an amusement park.

>What is AOO means in Olympia world

The AOO are an alliance who are behind everything bad that happens in Olympia.

>New Riddle: I run smoother than any rhyme, I love to fall but cannot climb. >I tremble at each breath of air, and yet can heaviest burdens bear...?> Water.

> . . . or is that being picked? . . . B-)

Huh!?! :-)

>If you wish to live wisely, ignore sayings -- including this one.

Done and done.

>Does a ship have a total weight? If it does then you should be able >to portage it accross land with enough oxen?

There will be no portaging.

>Hi, there. Remember me?

Yes

>No one else does, either, which is why I carry the Olympia Express >card. Use it for all your travel needs: longswords, dragons, nazgul. >Don't try to conquer Provinia without it! XXXX

Are you going to give me one?

>How do you get your noble back from the Bandits? > XXXX

Say please.

>Where do you find the peasants who are willing to >be crossed with the oxen? (& vice versa...) XXXX

Ask them nicely if they are willing, if they don't respond, they are.

>Why isn't SWIMMING a skill?!?! XXXX

Because there is no water narrow enough to swim across.

>I hear that the AOO have opened Hades to all travelors. Is this >true?

Why don't you go down there are check, then tell us the answer.

>It's Easy, when your us. >When Your Rich. When your Famous. >Who is going to stop the AOO, then ????

Nobody, so why don't you all just go home.

>Remember, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean >that they're not after you... XXXX

And the point of saying this was...?

-- The New Answer Guy

Due to popular demand I have changed my posting this month. I would like to thank all those concerned nobles who took the time to inform me that my rumor was becoming tiresome. Unfortunately, my rumor does not seem to have caused anyone to stop posting stupid rumors for the sole purpose of getting the 25 gold. Therefore I am asking that anyone else who wishes to stop these "filler" rumors from clogging up the Times to take the time to post a rumor asking that these people stop what they are doing. The Protectorate of the Sacred Rumor XXXX p.s. The answer to this week's riddle is "Water".

I need more.

The War God Nool is coming . The earth will be stained red with blood....

Gold for the needy!

The next ship leaving IC will be subject to a "tax" newly imposed by Marcus Pinkus - you have been warned! (Oh yes, also XXXX ;^} )

kaklunk!!!

One post-final rumor

Another island with monsters that just refuse to be attacked unless I have the correct item. How picky monters tend to be!

Sorry boss, the IBM project has to wait. My Olympia orders are due!

Q:What happens to garrisons of a castle that is razed?

> One more final rumor

Alas not.

Have you ever woke up with bullfrogs on your mind ?

arrrrrr, I think thar be something sinister in the wind...

The Brotherhood? Pah! I laugh in it's general direction. Who wants to be constrained by a rigourously enforced society. If the half the factions sign up things will be so dull and so 'lets do what they say' that Olympia will become like Purgatory.

Anyone want to join the Society for Creative Anarchy (SCA). Disenfranchise those land-owners. Fight for freedom.

Sorry. It has been a long week. No original posting. XXXX

Peace raises its ugly head throughout the land. We must abolish it! Raise the banners of war, ally yourselves against each other!

What good are Sacred Groves? XXXX

How many Orcs does it take to make Orc Oil? XXXX

Someone asked: Q: How do you get your noble back from the Bandits? A: Ask the Brotherhood of All Factions to negotiate their release. The Snide Remark Guy XXXX
