Maybe the peasants don't want to be taxed. Maybe the dragons don't want to be tied by a nose ring to the mast of a ship, or stuck in a dark dungeon just waiting for a war. Maybe they don't want to fight, but just want to be free to fly in any direction they choose. We've done wonders for the dragon population, but they're no wilder than cows now. Where is the majesty? Where is the splendor? Where is the glory? Are dragons just a statistic to change the outcome of a battle for humans who only live a short season of a dragons life? Why do we torture them so?

Just a few things to ponder as I start my own dragon pool.

House Greyfletch is currently undertaking an expedition for the Royal Geographic Society. The Grey Bird [fd1t] is currently circumnavigating the world. It is flying a Royal Geographic Banner. If you see it bumping against your coastline, or visiting your port, don't be alarmed, it's just passing through.

And no, it's not carrying any Orc-Oil. Well, not much. And it's purely for medicinal purposes. Really.

Customer Testamonial on behalf of the First Bank of Provinia

Greetings, Provinians! My name's Jack and these are my beans. I'm a trader. I travel Provinia buying and selling the finest beans and linen. How did I get this great career? The First Bank of Provinia gave me a small-business loan, that's how. They have everything a businessman like myself could need: low-interest loans, high interest rates, newbie bonuses, warehouse facilities, shipping services... What else could you ask for?

So take it from me, Jaques et ses Haricots, don't wind up lying in the gutters of Imperial City weaving baskets. Stop by the First Bank of Provinia a call. You'll be glad you did.

OF WINE AND FLIGHT

The Ranger went a-flyin', Farewellin', good-byein', The Maidens that he'd met along the way; For though they all had beauty, His honor, his duty, Required him to leave that winter's day.

So he gathered him his Dragons, His nazgul, his flagons, And set off for the islands east of Hist; But the weather started blowin', And rainin', and snowin', And soon he lost his way within the mist.

On wine and balls he flew now. It stormed now, it blew now, And his nazguls' wings and backs began to ache; But the dragons were uncaring, And held on, ensnaring, As the nazguls' will to live began to break.

The waves were getting higher. His anger, his ire, At facing Death had now begun to grow; And roundly did he curse them, And plead them, and nurse them, As closer to the surface they would go.

At last there came a sinking, A drowning, a drinking Of Life and Folly's final bitter dregs; For the Ranger and his minions, Their talons, their pinions. And nothing left to mark the spot but kegs.

A concerned reader writes: Beware the RGS. They mean to control the world through complete knowledge of our lands. Once there are no mysteries left in Olympia, once they have complete documentation of the world, once creativity and imagination is banished by their hand, they will have finally won.

Concerned reader: May I suggest closing your eyes and pretending there's nobody else here?

Nothing beats a nice stack of dragons...

Sorry, things passing through coastlines always alarm me.

Fear the coming darkness. Fear it but fight it. Never let it win.

Oh come now, old boy. Surely you're stretching it a bit here. "Control the world?" Hardly possible, even if one were so inclined. And "creativity and imagination banished"? Enhanced rather, I think.

The Royal Geographical Society is a fine and humanitarian institution, pledged to help both new and established factions alike. I for one am proud to be a part of it.

For more information on the RGS, contact its Representative, Brett Miller, 103534.1454@compuserve.com .

>Let's be realistic.

Good lord, what for? Baseless accusations and endless inuendo, isn't that what it's all about here?

That's why we call 'em _rumors_, because they're worth the paper they're not printed on.

And what's with all the "trembling AOO" comments? As far as I can tell, they can still wipe out all other factions as easily as one cleans out a lair of rats. Let's be realistic.

Uhhh, that was sarcasm, obviously I need to work on my delivery.
