Is there really an improve ship rigging? Do I have to know how to build a ship before I can research it? I did research in shipcraft and got no researchable skills.

Customer Testamonial on behalf of the First Bank of Provinia

Greetings, Provinians! My name's Jech Ercheflo the Friendly Thin Guy. I'm a Trader. I travel Provinia buying and selling and trading everything from the highest grade avinia leaf to the cheap woven baskets that I buy off of broke lowlifes in Imperial City. Provinia is not always as friendly and peaceful as me. So, I don't like carrying large amounts of cash on a trade run, if you know what I mean. That's why I bank at First Provinia: low-interest loans, high interest rates, newbie bonuses, warehouse facilities, shipping services... What else could you ask for?

So take it from me, Jech Ercheflo the Friendly Thin Guy, don't wind up lying in the gutters of Imperial City weaving baskets. Give the the First Bank of Provinia a call. You'll be glad you did.

Swishbuckler's heir, "Erik the Pink", was arrested last turn in Ilion. Unlike his father's, his brain isn't worth eating but at least his noble point can be taken. That and the 55 winged horses means he donated a net profit to the people he was raiding. I'm looking forward to the next round - can we make it three for three?

So, what is the next move of the famous fag?

I'd rather be fishing...

the liberator cometh! (soon)

Tut tut foolish complaining newbies. In an open ended game you can join late & still make a name for yourself. We know many factions which are well on their way to becoming great & who have joined rather late.

Will you be destroyed by the AOO or nasty pirates or God knows what before your plans ripen? Hell, of course it's possible. Should you therefore give up? No: there are lots of ways to dodge the AOO, the best of which is simply to keep on good terms with them.

If you get crushed then just try again! Note how the Indominable Gauls & the Oleg are still in it, despite having suffered rather serious defeats each.

Look, if we could guarantee you success, wouldn't this be a pretty crappy game?

Order of Zobel [re7] said: > Last month the dear Answer Guy told us that there is no relation between > Olympia and Arena. But me gladiators has been told this. To me it look like > that the Imperial City in both games are the same????. But what can you say > even the best can fail, keep up the good work Answer Guy.

He even shared the history of Olympia, as told in the Arena.

Note, however, that there is no mention of the Great God Atnerks. Instead there is a god called "Sol", who appears to be chief of their pantheon. How can you give a history of our world without even mentioning Atnerks?

Clearly the Olympia of Arena is a different Olympia than the one we all know and love.

Someone Asked: > Just how far must I travel from IC to find > some unclaimed land ?

You'll have to travel a decent distance. There is no unclaimed land in Provinia, so you'll have to sail, and probably sail for a few months.

Someone Else Asked: > What does "AOO" stand for? Or was it the death cry of the first > victim?

The Ancient Order of Olympians. Their mascot is Hootie the Owl, appropriate, since "owls are known to be unclean, territorial, and disease vectors, and are classified as raptors, which are the birds of prey which subsist on a diet of small and inoffensive prey, which they attack suddenly and without warning." (See times #49 for a full report on the AOO mascot decision process - it's worth reading)

Yet Another Someone Asked: > What happened to g2?

Nothing happened to it. Nothing at all.

Still Someone Else Asked: > Where do all these savages come from?

*sigh* Go ask your mother.

In the pasture of this world, I endlessly push aside the tall grasses in search of the bull. Following unnamed rivers, lost upon the interpenetrating paths of distant mountains, My strength failing and my vitality exhausted, I cannot find the bull. I only hear the locusts chirring through the forest at night.

Breathless Soldier : "Sire , the peasants are revolting !!" Marat : " Yes I know - they disgust me too ."

AOO - your time is coming - for too long have your policies and servants held the land in terror. Your deaths will be celebrated throughout Olympia .

Anything worth doing is worth screwing up royally.

Will this finally be the end of the Pink Scourge?

Give me back my broken night my secret room, my secret life it's lonely here, there's no one left to torture.

To c. factions: hit T. THIS COMING turn, don't forget!

What happened to g2?

This is g2, didn't you hear the AOO tell you that g1 is over? Don't you believe everything the AOO tells you?

From the Last Issue:

Just how far must I travel from IC to find some unclaimed land ?

The short answer is that there isn't any. Actually, there's still a few small continents unclaimed, but you're not likely to find them before the older factions do, since they are far closer to these spots than you are, and they generally know where the claimed land is, which means that they won't waste time looking there.

Everything that appears in the crude map that accompanies the rules has been long since claimed by somebody, who has since been wiped out by either the AOO for threating the AOO, or by the anti-AOO for not threatening the AOO. Then somebody else has claimed the ruins.

Take it from somebody who knows, there isn't much virgin wilderness out here. On the other hand, people drop every turn, and some of them leave lands empty when they go. Go out and look around.

Damn! Dropped that +100 attack sword in Imperial City again!

Over the past few "months" since joining, I have found alliances attempting to recruit me into their fold. One offers a position as a servant, another offers a position of equality. What I am forced to ask myself, is what do I lose in the bargain. Not just what do I gain?

One must always wonder. While you're thinking, be sure not to let anyone take your purse!
