Both Olympia playtests had design mailing lists which were quite
helpful. Olympia owes a great deal to the participants from these
lists, many of whom I'm glad to see are present once again.
Keep in mind that I'm being very conserative about changes now that
Olympia has gone commercial. Some things, like adding more WAIT
options, are very easy to do. Other changes may be impossible simply
because there are 130 players who have already downloaded and printed
out the rules, and spent many turns basing strategy on them.
If it turns out that there is a compelling reason to change a critical
part of the game, such as the combat system, I would likely put it up
for a player vote. More than a few votes against would probably
condemn a change, even if it was a good one. We'll see how it goes.
Another option is that I could start up a second playtest game to
try out new changes. This would only be warranted if I had some
major changes I wanted to test. At the moment I don't have any,
so don't hold your breath.
Thanks for joining!
