Yes! I was going to suggest this myself.

Hmmm..maybe. Perhaps just _some_ of them. Combat, basic magic,
forestry, construction, beastmastery, mining...not stuff like
persuasion, stealth, necromancy, scrying....
I'd rather give players a better setup. I'm against suggestions
that make changes _within_ the game, after a player's started.
