Description

🌑 Ravenloft PBeM Recruitment - Redemption or Damnation 🌑

The Mists have already claimed you.

Not because you were innocent. Not because you were unlucky.

But because you deserved to be noticed.

Nick is running a Play-by-Email Ravenloft campaign, and we are looking for a few writers who want something darker than standard fantasy adventuring.

This is not a hero's journey.

It is a reckoning.

Premise

Your character has walked dark paths.

You have done terrible things. You attracted the attention of the Dark Powers. They marked you.

You now carry boons twisted with curses, gifts that empower you while binding you more tightly to Ravenloft's will.

You begin the campaign evil-aligned, already compromised. But you have been given a choice:

Change... or be damned forever.

The Dark Powers are watching.

The Twist

We encountered a man who proposed something dangerous:

If we cause enough frustration, disruption, and pain to the Dark Powers themselves, they may cast us out of Ravenloft.

Is that true?

No one knows.

But we are testing the theory.

The party travels from domain to domain, acting as spiritual saboteurs:

Disrupting Darklords

Undermining tragedies

Spoiling despair

Interfering with carefully cultivated horror

We are not traditional heroes.

We are thorns in the cosmic jailer's hand.

Tone & Expectations

This is classic Ravenloft:

Gothic horror

Moral tension

Psychological dread

Slow-burn consequences

Internal struggle

Nick asks players to:

Roll their own dice

Write rich, atmospheric posts

Embellish actions with mood and inner conflict

Lean into the curse/boon dynamic

Embrace consequences

If you enjoy purple prose, tragic introspection, and morally fraught decisions, you will thrive here.

If you want fast tactical dungeon crawls, this is probably not your table.

What We're Looking For

Writers who enjoy deep character arcs

Players comfortable starting as evil and evolving

People who appreciate Ravenloft's themes of temptation and redemption

Consistent posters who can maintain tone

System: Pathfinder 1e Characters will be approved by the DM

Format: Play-by-Email Dice: Rolled by players Focus: Narrative-driven with mechanical weight

🌫 Final Question

Can a villain truly change?

Can monsters claw their way back from the brink?

Or are we merely entertaining the Dark Powers until they grow bored?

If that uncertainty excites you, the Mists are waiting.

Reply or message if interested.
