It is the present day. The United Kingdom leaves the European Union, creating a domino effect that leads to the collapse of the E.U. This plunges Europe into an economic crisis that spreads across the Continent, and then spreads worldwide. Unemployment rises. Food shortages spread across the Continent. Workers go on strike.
Immigration from North Africa and the Middle East is at its highest, leading to intense anti-immigrant sentiment. Riots erupt in European cities..
In France, a new French president who is a descendant of Napoleon Bonaparte is elected. In Germany, a young Prime Minister is elected. In the midst of the crisis, France and Germany emerge as the new economic superpowers of Europe. French and German corporations purchase businesses throughout Europe and give economic aid to other European nations. The nations of Europe align behind Paris and Berlin. A political rift between the United States and Europe leads to the dissolution of the NATO alliance.
French and German economic domination spreads across the Continent. Determined to resurrect European unity, France and Germany sign the Strasbourg Treaty and create the new European Confederation, or EurCon. Other former EU nations also join. The former Russian republics also join EurCon.
However, resentment against French and German economic and political dominance have arisen in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. Those five Eastern European nations refuse to join EurCon. Norway, determined to maintain its economic independence, also refuses to join EurCon. EurCon responds by cutting off trade with the six nations. Under EurCon pressure, Russia cuts off oil and natural gas shipments.
Unable to persuade Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Norway to join by economic pressure, EurCon decides to use military force against the seven nations who refuse to join. An American natural gas container ships are sabotaged in Norwegian, Polish, and Bulgarian harbors by EurCon agents. The United States and Britain are forced to provide their supply ships with naval escorts.
EurCon forces seize Norwegian oil platforms in the North Sea. EurCon forces invade Norway from the sea and from Sweden. EurCon forces also invade Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Bulgaria. Angered by EurCon's actions, the Russian president ends the embargo. To punish Russia for its betrayal, EurCon forces invade Russia.
Norway, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Bulgaria find themselves fighting for their very existence while Russia is fighting a massive EurCon invasion consisting of forces from France, Germany, and the former Soviet republics.
The United States and Britain link up with Norway, the four Eastern European democracies, and Russia to stop a terrifying new tyranny. Major battles are fought on air, land, and sea.
