Description

Open ended, free form RPG inspired by 1980s anime film & TV. Create your own original character, based on the 80's decade to explore a quirky school where anything can happen.

Plot: In 2020, the Earth was invaded by an alien race. The humans won, but at a high cost. The planet was reduced to the stone age. The year is now 2320. Civilization has rebuilt itself to resemble a futuristic 1980s. Cassette tapes exist along side super computers. Boomboxes and giant robots exist side by side, etc. Impressive strides have been made in holograms, mechanics, electronics, hover craft and personal computing.

For some unknown reason, even magical and psychic powers have come into existence.

Leading the charge to restore humanity is Graviton University. It is located on a remote tropical island in the pacific, off the coast of China. It is thought there was once a chain of islands there, but its name or existence has become the stuff of legend. A small city has sprung up around Graviton to support it. Graviton University is divided into five departments of study:

Mekaniksu: mechanics, electronics, computing, robots

Majiksu: spell casting, divination, witchcraft, magical artifacts

Seishin: study into human phenomena - precognition, telekinesis, telepathy, etc.

Wutai: Asian culture, including ninjitsu, samurai, swordsmanship, martial arts, etc.

General Studies: Everything else, with an emphasis on pre-war human culture, particularly the 1980s and 90s

Students declare a department for their major, but can also cross train in other departmental courses.

Possible roles to play: student, professor, faculty member, coach, security (to fend off marauders, pirates, monsters, and other things that occasionally invade the island), counselor, city dweller, etc.

Groups: cliques, gangs, sports teams, student council, after school clubs, etc.

1980s anime to draw inspiration from: Gunbuster, Bubblegum Crisis, Slayers, Dragonball, Macross, Gundam, Captain Harlock, Project A-Ko, Akira, Ursei Yatsura, Ramna 1/2, Megazone 23, Slayers, Miyazaki films, City Hunter, Yu Yu Hakusho, Devil Hunter Yohko, Riding Bean, Dominion Tank Police, Demon City Shinjuku)

Usual RPG rules: no god like characters, killing or playing other player characters without permission, and other etiquette you probably already know. Other than that, let's have some fun and see what hilarity ensues.
