Description

In the Court of the Saffron King is an established game set in Robert Howard's Hyborian Age of Conan and Red Sonja with a core group of excellent role players. The characters have just visited the Oracle of Ishtar in the mountains of Turan and defeated a flying worm. Now they are traveling on to the city of Aghrapur with the threat of the Black Pharaoh hanging over their heads. The dying words of the sibyl threaten worse dangers to come.

The ancient port city of Aghrapur is the farthest eastern outpost of the Aquilonian Empire. It is an important crossroads of trade routes from north and south, east and west. In ages past the city was ruled by the Shah of Turan. Twenty years ago the armies of King Conan defeated the Shah and took his city from him. An Imperial Governor was appointed to rule in King Conan's place.

This is a fusion game of sword and sorcery mixed with a liberal spicing of the Cthulhu Mythos, that Howard knew so well. We are using the Generic Old-school Role-playing Engine rules along with the CoC Sanity penalties to govern mythos encounters. Magic will be along the lines of the CoC setting rather than a classic sword and sorcery game, and no Player Characters may start out as magic users.

Age Limit: None. It's a dark game, but not lascivious in nature
