Description

Ancient Battles is based on the successful Napoleonic Battles system, but heavily tweaked to take into account the differences with regard to ancient warfare (elephants, chariots and pikemen spring to mind, for example!). The game is played over full colour card maps, with each battle lasting between 5 and 15 game turns.

Ancient Battles is quick to play but unless your using skirmishers a common mistake is not to protect flanks properly, so it makes sense to spend some time mulling over your options. There is a vast array of diverse armies you can choose from, and you get to choose their makeup by choosing the troops you have via a points system and historical lists. For those of you experienced in such things it's just like choosing a figure wargames army using WRG army lists, that sort of thing, only you don't have to paint or buy any figures to try a new army out!!!

The game has had large scale battles fought such as Kadesh, which was a resounding Hittite win after they outflanked Pharoah, but at the moment we're concentrating on running head-to-head battles with this game.
