Greetings to all Olympians, and a special hello to all Drassans. We are the TIBs.

The TIBs is an alliance currently consisting of 9 factions in and around Drassa. Our alliance lives by two basic tenents. The belief that all people have the right to live in peace. And the belief that all people have the right to make money. All by-laws and guidlines of the TIBs alliance have been created to guarantee these two rights for all people....TIB and non-TIB.

For the sake of the following discussion, TIB territory will be defined as the provinces surrounding Drassa, bordered to the south by row cm (including row cm) and to the east by column 28 (including column 28). The coast of the Great Sea forms the natural borders of the west and north. This area may change in the future, so please be aware of this if you set up shop near TIB territory.

THE RIGHT TO LIVE IN PEACE. No noble, TIB or non-TIB, may attack another noble within TIB territory. We, as an alliance, will respond with all possible force to any transgression of this policy. Without the secure knowledge of one's own safety, all other promises are hollow.

THE RIGHT TO MAKE MONEY. The TIB alliance will not impede any factions attempts to earn a living. Quite the contrary, we will do all we can to foster such economic growth. To this end construction of Temples, Inns and Mines are allowed within TIB territory within the following considerations: 1) As mulitple Inns cut into each others profits, we ask that only one Inn be built per province 2) We ask that factions contact the Arch Bishop of Drassa prior to construction of Temples. (email address available upon request) 3) Towers and Mines may be constructed without restriction 4) No castles may be constructed in TIB territory.

In an effort to help us fulfill these goals we began patrolling TIB territory 2 months ago. Every province within the above stated area will be entered AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 3 MONTHS by a TIB patrol. Any noble seen to be violating the public safety tenent will be dealt with immediately. Any faction found constructing unauthorized buildings will be contacted and construction will be asked to be halted until such time that the situation can be discussed.

Please note that the TIBs are free and open to all travelers, tradsemen and other peaceful people. We do not claim exclusive resource rights in the area, nor do we recognize them. We believe there are more than enough resources to go around. Note also that our tenent of peace and our desire to enforce it extends to all people. You don't have to be a TIB to be safe in TIB territory.

Finally, Drassans will begin seeing nobles with the banner "TIBs Alliance" in the area. Obviously this will identify TIB members. Non-TIB nobles seen carrying the "TIBs Alliance" banner will be contacted and asked to refrain. With privilages come duties. TIB members must earn the right to fly the banner. If you want to fly the banner, and are interested in joining the TIBs, please contact me for membership information.

We consider these guidlines to be fair and just. If you take exception to any of the above, please feel free to contact me or any other TIB member.

Live in peace, and make lots of money. Eric Nelson TIB Minister of Foreign Affairs (I will be unavailable to reply to emails until Monday April 28th as I will be, travelling. Please don't take a lack of reply personally. I will respond as soon as possible upon my return)

We have a new world before us. This unknown, unexplored land mass is just waiting for someone to find all it has in store.

We, The Travelers, are attempting to map this large world, but we can not do it alone. If you would be willing to donate the land portions of your turn to our efforts, you will be assisting in one of the greatest projects in Olympian History!

We also collect and distribute land claims and gate information.

Hear Ye!, Hear Ye!

To all the Empire Builders of Provenia the Free Company wishes you good fortune in all your ventures. We ourselves have no such ambitions for we are a band of freelance adventurers intent on providing Provenia with a skillfull and professional mercenary service. You may consider that in these times of peace that the hiring of mercenaries would be a waste of your precious money, but you are wrong for it is now that you need us most. In these early days of empire building it is those who grow the fastest that will rise to the top of the pack, and the only way to grow faster is to have extra pairs of hands performing the tasks of gathering resources, training garrisons and the construction of castles. By hiring our nobles to perform the tasks of guarding your property and training and equipping you troops more of your nobles will be free to perform these vital tasks. You may think that forming alliances a cheaper method of acheiving this, but your allies can only provide these services at the expense their own empire building programmes. Hence even a strong alliance can benefit from hiring extra nobles. This may seem expensive at first but the rapid increase in your tax revenues should easily recover the costs incurred. Currently the Free Company can offer the following services, guard duty, escort duty for your resource gathering parties, weaponsmithing, and the training of troops. For the moment we can only provide these services in the southwestern provinces of Provenia but we are prepared to travel to almost any location as long as our client can provide the necessary transport. Think about this and I'm sure you'll see it makes sense. If this offer interests you please contact the Quartermaster of the Free Company, care of JerryRevell@Compuserve.com and we'll be glad to send you more details of our services and rates.

On a final note some may consider that the hiring of mercenaries is a risky business and that alliances make for safer partnerships. Alas alliances are based upon mutual trust, an intangible and sometimes fragile concept. We do not offer you trust, instead we offer professional integrity. It is simply not in our interest to ever betray you for that would destroy our integrity and damage our ability to secure future business.

Remember whilst your purse is full our loyalty is absolute.

Let it be known that the Order of St Christophe and the Draconian Elite lay claim to The City [s56] in province [dk45] and all adjacent provinces. Our allies in G1 are most welcome. All others are advised to stay clear or notify us in advance of their coming.

Greetings to The Emperor, Sharn.

I have a request, I would like to cut 50 wood. Would you mind if I cut 50 wood outside Yellowleaf? I also got a question. The only 18 men restriction, those it means that I may only travel with 17 workers and peasants. If it those I am sorry, I currently got 65 workers. I also got a proposal. I could build you some buildings. If you could pay me 100 gold a month plus expences. Only the increased Civ-level would provide you with my payment in a couple of turns.

Long live the Emperor

Hear ya! Citizens of Yellowleaf I got workers and peasants for sale. I got 35 workers and I sell them for the fair price of 7 gold each. I also got 10 peasants who I sell for 6 gold each.

Rumors

Heard there are other continents out there, is this true? If so, can everybody please move to them. Thank you.

a red sky at night, a sailors delight!

But the old man wasn't really dead. He was tired, and merely dozed off. He awoke with a yawn, and spittle ran down his chin.

"Where was I? Oh yes, the fabled AOO. They used a lot of rumour control as they built their empire. When everyone realized what swine they were, it was too late. My advice, then, is to build up your own power. Practice invisibility with both your warriors _and_ your cities. Investigate; collect information. Be prepared for an assault -- have an escape plan."

*cough* The old man dozed off again. Or was he dead this time?

Yvengi is a louse!

Someone Asked: > Do you think the "louse guy and the star# guy know that > EVERYONE gets the 25 gold every turn, or do you think > they post those stupid rumors to get people like me > to respond to it?

Those who have read classic sci-fi/fantasy may recognize the comments about Yvengi's character/entomolgy. Try reading some stories by L. Sprague deCamp & Fletcher Pratt.

As for the stars, those who have been paying attention will have noticed that there are changing numbers in them. Perhaps a pattern will emerge?

Someone Else Asked: > Has anybody else ever found anything down the sewers?

Yes. Some have found death. Some have found treasure. None that the Answer Guy knows of have found nirvana.

"Easily Annoyed" Asked: > Dear Mr. Real Answer Guy: > > Let's say that I'm sitting in my brand new castle with > one noble and 50 soldiers (5,5,0) and an annoying rival > faction shows up with 1 noble and 50 pikemen (5,30,0). > If I have my noble attack the annoying rival, I assume > that my soldiers will have the advantage of the castle > walls, i.e. an effective rating of (5, 55,0), and will > be able to expunge the annoying noble from the face of > Provinia. > > Or will my noble take the incredibly stupid action of > rushing out of the castle and attacking with 50 soldiers > with an effectively innefective rating of (5,5,0) and > giving up my nice penthouse view?

Here's the situation: Bob [0001] is inside Castle Wolfenstein [9999] with 50 soldiers. Joe [0002] is outside the castle with 50 pikemen.

If Bob ties doing "ATTACK 002" his order will fail, since Bob is not in the same location as Joe. If Joe tries "ATTACK 001" that will also fail, since (suprise!) Joe is not in the same location as Bob. So how do one resolve this little problem?

An excerpt from the description of the ATTACK command:

> For example, one would use the order `attack jg99' to attack this > castle: > > Inner locations: > Castle [jg99], castle, defense 20, owner: > Law Netexus [2020], with three peasants > > Do not use `attack 2020', as Law Netexus is not in the same location > as characters outside the castle. If successful, the attackers will > move into the castle.

So Joe can attack Bob by doing "ATTACK 9999". The only way Bob can attack Joe is by sallying forth from his snug castle and then attacking. You didn't think those soldiers inside the castle could just lean over the parapets and reach out to Joe's pikemen, did you? They've got to walk on out there, just like in Real Life (tm). If they want to be safe behind the castle walls, they've got to wait for Joe to attack. Looks like a seige to the Answer Guy.

Arrrrr,

I was sailing about & landed upon the serene shores of Camaris, but their beauty is only skin deep. For I had not just landed when I received all kinds of mail by carrier pigeon bidding me, in a most sincere & firm way, to be on my marry way.

So it's off to find more hospitible climes. Camaris' shores are pretty to look at, but cold indeed was my reception there.
