Bell Atlantic knocked down a bunch of frame relay circuits yesterday, and pbm.com was off the net for about 18 hours. Sorry for the outage and the late turn run.

pbm.com will be moving to join me in Mountain View, CA on a T3 co-location in the near future. Hopefully taking BA out of the loop will improve reliability, but unfortunately outages on the Internet from time to time are a fact of life.

Just sail East young man (but please write first).

The elven staff:

Artifacts that don't come with lore sheets sometimes boost the mana of your magi. Give the staff to your magi & see what happens.

& now the usual:

Greetings Fellow Olympiads!

The Liberty Confederacy rules West Ossicus. Peaceful, law-abiding travelers are welcome. Bandits, pirates, & their associates are advised to avoid the area for their own protection. Investors of any kind (merchants, inn-keepers, temple-builders, tower owners, miners, etc.) are especially welcome to civilize this untamed land. Travelers wishing to exploit the resources of these lands should contact us so we don't have harvesting conflicts. Unapproved harvesting is frowned upon.

To the Clan with No Name - A Modest Proposal

Your next target: General Norc

Put your money where your mouth is, or shut up already.

Another inquring mind asked: "what does an elven staff do ?????"

The answer is simple - elven staff stuff.

(You're welcome!) :-P

The savage prowls the swamplands... Why what's that? Ah, another 25 gold.

Ever try breeding a lion with a dragon? It's very interesting.

Someone asked: > OK, own up. Who owns the Sea Snake? Ok, I do. Has it been bothering people again? Sorry, I thought I had it train to leave ships that don't have lace sails alone.

You don't have lace sails, do you?

Someone Else asked: > "Dad, what do you do with a cursed pit?" You cast Remove Curse on it, and then you have a perfectly usable pit. If you pray while you are in it, you might even get your god to bless it, and then you'd have a blessed pit. What fun!

Oh, wait. That's Nethack4.0, not Olympia. Sorry.

Yet Someone Else asked: > Where is Ossicus? Hmm, it seems that a lot of people don't know basic Olympian geography, so I'll share the map I picked up when I started. It's not great, but at least you'll know (about) where Ossicus is.

----- Begin included map -- CLIP AND SAVE ----- This is a rough map of Olympia. It is inaccurate in some places, and is not to scale, but shows the major continents and seaways.

The Peace Guy asks: > Who is the Clan with No Name? No, Who's on First.

-- The Answer Guy

Clan of no Name, do you also pee in your pants when you see you own shadow?

Yo Ho Ho

Hot town! Summer in the city. Back of my neck's gettin' dirty & gritty. Been down, isn't it a pity, Doesn't seem to a shadow in the city. All around, people lookin' half dead, Walkin' on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head.

Ooooo, Son o' Swishbuckler, you're sssooo macho. Are you going to follow in your father's footsteps and become the scourge of the sea? If so, where do I sign up?

A Poem From The Shadows

The poetry that fills these pages is written from a lack of wit; is the poorest I've seen in ages and isn't worth a load of s...

So I kill the rats, right, and they have better than 10 gold each, and I'm wondering, where were they keeping this gold, and do I really want to know about it?

Ha Ha Ha!

"another 25 gold into the pay chest, and boy do I need it, another boring month sailing to the LC"

"I want a shoehorn, the kind with teeth. People should be shot, for stating their beliefs. I want a shoehorn, the kind with teeth!"

We need a WAR!!! It is getting boring!!!

> Clan With No Name, your time has come.

World domination already? I wasn't expecting my time to come for ages yet...

OK, Answer Guy. Answer this if you can.

If you submit 60 days worth of orders for your characters. Will they execute the second 30 days worth of orders if you do not submit a turn?

This Answer Guy makes for the best reading in this publication. All else pales into insignificance. Why is not more wit and intelligence shown in other such wordings? Perchance those who write lack the necessary skills? I for one, have this turn passed, passed the 50% mark of all skills. Yet my solitary mage has reached but 20%. Where might my mage obtain such training to help him more on his way? He seeks scrolls on the why's and wherefore's of Scrying. An offer of 1,000 gold is made but for one scroll that can teach such archane magick. This monies is being turned over to the Bank in readyness for such a time when a Noble of this realm deems it fit to teach those who are lesser in the Art.

How dare you call yourself Son o' Swishbuckler. Swishbuckler was as swishy as they come. If he were alive he'd bend you over a barrel for suggesting that he dallied with women.

I begin to see why this large desert island is still unclaimed. Nice view, though.
