This will be the last warning given to any would be theives, the future policy is immediate execution. Note: The idiot didn't get anything either!! Why don't we stay here, heal ourselves a bit, and wait for Zephrys?" "Yes!" said the one time govenor of the River of Ice, "We can do that and check this place out. It looks nice enough." "But isn't Glen claimed by someone?" protested Zot, "Besides, we're supposed to be heading for North Wood, which is just a move 2 from here." "Ha! A turn long `move 2'. It took us a month to move from Ancalme to here, and it will take another month to move on to North Wood. The only claim to this area that we know of has been dropped {ed. note: if this is not true, contact Greg Speegle at speegle@sally. utexas.edu, or 1710 E. Oltorf #503, Austin, Texas 78741 asap!} so we might as well look at it too!" "But we're too weak to stay in one place!" protested the General. "Oh, that's no problem!" said the govenor, "Oh boys, will you come out here?" A small band of men, numbering close to a hundred, marched out from a stand of trees. No two of them marched in step, and all of them wore the strangest armor Zot had ever seen. Tall thin men with striped pants that came up to their chests `marched' beside very short men with clothes barely covering their large stomachs. Others wandered by, looking far more intently at cards stuck in their helmets and dice with 6's on every side than anything related to Zot. Still others literally leaped from the trees, crashing into whoever might be in their path, and bouncing up again wihtout notice. Of course, the crashees didn't fare so well, as the Chardian Hospital's chief officer himself was felled by a human projectile. "What is this?" demanded Zot. "Your new troops!" said the govenor. "Teach them to fight, and maybe we won't get smashed so badly next time." Zot shook his head. These things wanted to learn how to fight? It was the stupidest thing Zot had ever heard of. But, there were plenty of them, and they had seen one battle, albeit from the point of running away as fast as they could, so maybe there was hope. The general felt his own wounds act up when he tried to raise his right arm, and thought staying in Glen might not be such a bad idea afterall. They could send some units into North Wood quickly enough, while the major group stayed here and healed themselves up. Yes, it seemed liek quite a nice idea afterall. Of course, it would be appreciated if any hostile groups would please `declare 1957 2', if they happened to be in Glen, as they would make life a lot easier. Somehow, Zot didn't think these clowns would make great fighters. Silly ones, yeah, but certianly not great. Kismain, [Freedom Press 2766], Day 323.4, Once again the herbalists skills in Kismain have been marked with personal disaster as the latest experimentor in this remote skill was found unconscious near a small patch of purple mushrooms. Luckily the intervention of Rasputin's mobile medicine band was able to stop the progression of posionous wounds before they reached the 9th degree. Nevertheless, this remains as a serious blow to the would be budding herbalist society in the City. As reported previously the last country herbalists died from intense working and while the current victiapplied his skills only at 80% of the intensity of his predecessor, the near fatal results indicates that possibly this profession is very undervalued as a hazard. After taking off a month for rest and recuperation, sprinkled with some more study in safety matters, it is hoped that the new work schedule at 50% of maximum may be able to sustain the work effort without destroying the worker. ///Freedom Press [2766]/// *********************************************************************** Cindor [205], the theif who stole the Throne of the Empire, is loose and up to his old tricks again! Merchants, watch your money pouches and trade goods. Lords and Ladies should put special guards on their artifacts! This theif is constantly invisible but can be stopped. If the entire world were to issue attack orders (including magical attacks) on his entity number of [205], then he could be stopped before he causes any real damage. It's up to you people! One of his favourite hang-outs is the City of the Lost. But he has now moved out to stalk the world at large. Beware, for you have been warned! The Silver Palace, (Freedom Press [2766]), Day 326.4, The Kismain Police in a routine sweep of the Prize Market, picked up a cutpurse who had just arrived from the Silver Palace. The police were drawn to him by the exotic silver laced skirt he was attempting to sell along with several other silvery dresses and unmentionables. While Silver is not unusual in the appearance of clothing elsewhere it is particularrly disliked in Kismain through its close association with the high handed nobles of the Silver Palace. The uncouth thief was no doubt not up on his fashion news and trends of the town. Nevertheless the astounding part of the story comes from the whereabouts of the origin of the clothing and apparantly they were lifted from the Steward's personal and private chamber. Dyfedd Ridenow ap Kerwin [312], as Steward of the Silver Palace has been known to be rather peculiar in his communications and is highly sensitive on the subject of anything that is female and linked with his person, however the startling relevations of his suspected cross dressing facination, while hinted at in the past, has never been fully exposed so dramatically as by this incident. The Kismain Police when asked what they would do with the articles commented that the Silver Palace has made it very clear that they will not coperate in any manner with the government of Kismain, and in fact they view the establishment of Kismain embassy's abroad with great hostility such as the attempts to establish comminication with Twillip, Kosar, Jakara and McGuilicuttyto mention a few. Despite all this it is still the policy of the City to decline to be used for the resale of stolen goods and thus the goods should be returned shortly. The thief will be sent to the Salt Mines of Tondril for a period of 1 year to reestablish his productive efforts on behalf of society and to compensate the Kismain Government for the trouble of returning the goods and maintaining law and order. ////Freedom Press [2766]//// -------------------------------------------------------------------------- People of the world !!! There was a time when he use to be invited to dance in the Balls held in the Palace and chat with the court mages on the latest spells coming out of the Kistook Academy, but those days and nights have long since faded with his pension pay and past good looks. Now all that remains is the call of the sea and the salt stains on his lungs and thinning hair line. The potted marks of deprevation at sea and the scars of an unlucky cutlass bite on his lower lip. Yet, the Captain looks to the distant walls of the Palace and dreams of better times with his Admiral and crew and the East Wind at their sails floating in the wind currents on one of new airships of the Kismain port. Wondering out loud he is heard to mumble..."Our time will come.." Captain Ritter [2281] Silver Palace, (Freedom Press [2766]), Day 331.4 Chanting 'Put the Steward in the Stew' a small group of 27 female Elves staged a loud protest outside the Tondril Gate of the Palace. The women were protesting the anti-female remarks made by the Steward in his last public appearance wherein he said he was insulted that anyone would think he was a female. "Being a woman is not an insult" commented the leader of the group. " After all God first created man and then after thinking things over corrected the mistakes and made the improved version: Woman." We all know that it is only women that can bear life and bring true joy to a home or a family...was another often quoted phrase in the demonstration. Meanwhile in the nearby City, the Women's Anti-defamation League of Kismain ( W.A.L.K. ) was asked for their opinion of the matter and Madame Edythe siad: " The situation in the Silver Palace is unfortunate, and we hope that the occupants of the grounds will work out their obvious traditional bias and unwelcomed views. We are more concerned with the developments in the City at the moment and we have warned our sisters to not be distracted by the macho nonsense being spewed forth from the Palace, we have more important matters at hand here, such as equal opportunity in the Shipbuilding Program as well as the establishment of the Fishing Comstock Corps as open to men and women to increase much needed food production." The NastyGul which was on assignment in the Silver Palace, reported that the riot was caused when various members of the Palace guard tried to physically remove the female Elves by pulling on their ears. This brought about an exchange of magic which covered the entrance to the Palace with a Green Smoke and left an outrageous stink in the air. As the NastyGul has been reassigned elsewhere further information is needed on the Palace's views. ///Freedom Press [2766]/// -------------------------------------------------------------------------- AN OPEN ADDRESS FROM LORD TWILKIP THIMARK THE DARK "I stand admidst the reek and stench of 2000 rotten bodies, bodies that once were warriors. My army behind me rests from the days fighting. In 10 weeks they have killed five times their number, but still I can see Jakara's minions numbering in the tens of thousands spread across the plains below us. Firelash, the great red dragon that has joined us in this struggle, circles slowly above us in the smoke filled sky. The bearers dart like fleas trying to locate officers amoung the dead, and the flames from the pryes continue to grow. "Where are the faces of my youth? My peers have all departed these lands. I know no one. Only an enemy I have never met remains, and even he, or perhaps she, is a latecomers. The day of the hero is past. Today is the day of the massive army and mages. My day is past. This week the news came to me that Cindor, my oldest and closest friend, master thief and throne stealer, has disappeared. As Sojourner before him. Kosar is dead. Regis insane. Old allies and aversaries, Xarn and Amadeus, Ra-Hotep and Leona; dead or gone. Many others dead or gone. I saw my own despair in the eyes of those I slew this week. I can sense the masters of these eastern lands feel the same despair. The great wheel has turned and we are in decline. There are other worlds and other lives for my spirit now. "This war I leave for younger lords. My days will come to a close back west where I will rest with the souls of my ancestors and decendents. Only old MacElroy and the vetern 'Forgers will accompany me. You nobles of youthful blood, remember that life is the fight and evil can never overcome a stout heart." [DICTATED AT DUSK UPON THE BATTLEFIELD IN THE WESTERN HILLS OF HAMAD UR NAKIR] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Court of the Emperors, (Frodo Press [2236]), The ambassador to the Court has been concerned over the lack of hard core information on the past activities of various of the mainland's more notorious visistors. In particular the martial inclinations of Jakara towards executions and the history of Twilip's encounter with Jakara are of a priority matter. In this line we would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows of hard fact executions by Jakara of player characters...please contact us giving the date of the attack, the location, cause where known. Also we would like to hear from witnesses of the Twillip war efforts in particular with the activities towards provinces that have been taken from Jakara. [2236] Frodo ======================================================================== P R O C L A M A T I O N TO THE CITIZENS OF THE SILVER PALACE Some of the decent, law-abiding citizens of the Silver Palace have been alarmed by reports published in the so-called "Freedom Press" claiming that we have a sniper loose in our fair Palace. Let it be hereby known that I, Dyffed Ridenow ap Kerwin, your new ruler, was attacked by a member of a faction that wishes to rule all of the Island of Tondril. This assassin has been caught, tried, and executed. Those who sent him here are trying to stir up turmoil within the Palace, and I am counting on your good sense and intelligence to see through their propaganda. For your information, the editor of the "Freedom Press" has boasted to me of his friendship with the evil Jakara. Keep that in mind as you read his writings. I am a man of peace; I want nothing more than to settle here and make the Silver Palace a safe and prosperous place to live. It is well known, however, that there are individuals in the surrounding provinces whose intentions are less honorable. Let them be aware that attacks upon the Silver Palace or its residents will be met with suitable retaliation. We will not attack, but we will defend ourselves if attacked. In an effort to ensure the tranquility and prosperity of the Palace and its residents, I am asking that each and every one of you make yourself known to the Steward's Office at LIBMOD@SUVM. The only data we request is your entity identification and an address at which you can be reached if any outside force should threaten the Palace. I thank you for your assistance in keeping the Silver Palace a safe and prosperous place to live. Dyffed Ridenow ap Kerwin [312] (LIBMOD@SUVM) A SINCERE REQUEST FROM TWILKIP THIMARK THE DARK ****************************************************************************** Good Lords who I have seen fit to relinguish my command to: I often have seen that upon sending a unit into the command of an ally, that the said ally has seen fit to start refering to the unit by an other name. I send him someone named Jim and he starts calling him Harry. Please don't change the names of your new underlings. It will upset their dear mothers who bestow the names upon them. It is bad enough that they have to have a new boss let alone a new name. Please, NPCs are charactors also, treat them as such. Thank you.
