Proposed Combat Formula

A few days ago, I prosposed weighting the combat system, to take
in to consideration, the quality of the units fighting as well as
the quantity. I proposed that the chance of the attacker attacking
in a given combat round be computed as follows:

Attacker quantity + Attacker quality
------------------------------------
Total quantity + total quality

Where quality is the total attack/missile strength of units involved.

I modified a copy of Ross Inglis Olympia Combat Simulator to take this
into account, and what follows is a sample of the output (5000 times
each, the default).

With the Combat System As Is:
---------------------------------------
ATTACKER :

1 noble (80,80,0) [1.00], with:
100 peasants (1,1,0) [96.88]

DEFENDER :

1 dragon (500,500,0) [0.00]

TOTALS: WIN 100% LOSE 0%
-----------------------------------------
ATTACKER :

1 noble (80,80,0) [1.00], with:
100 soldiers (5,5,0) [99.10]

DEFENDER :

1 dragon (500,500,0) [0.00]

TOTALS: WIN 100% LOSE 0%

===================================================
As you can see, it's not too hard to beat a dragon.
However, with this proposed formula...
===================================================

Combat System as proposed:
------------------------------------
ATTACKER :

1 noble (80,80,0) [1.00], with:
100 peasants (1,1,0) [16.94]

DEFENDER :

1 dragon (500,500,0) [0.85]

TOTALS: WIN 15% LOSE 85%
--------------------------------------
ATTACKER :

1 noble (80,80,0) [1.00], with:
100 soldiers (5,5,0) [59.85]

DEFENDER :

1 dragon (500,500,0) [0.50]

TOTALS: WIN 50% LOSE 50%
---------------------------------------

Now the quality of the units involved are better represented in
the outcome than before. I'm sure it is not without side affects,
but I would like to see if what you all think. And maybe see if
your simulators come up with similar results.
