Here's another example, using "behind" crossbowmen:

N crossbowmen, M=10 knights, D=1 dragon:
N p q knight strength loss
--- ---- ---- ------ -------------
0 .000 1.000 2.7778 125.0000
5 .333 .667 3.2341 145.5339
10 .500 .500 3.5235 158.5570
15 .600 .400 3.7234 167.5532
20 .667 .333 3.8698 174.1400
25 .714 .286 3.9816 179.1712
30 .750 .250 4.0698 183.1395
40 .800 .200 4.2000 189.0000
50 .833 .167 4.2916 193.1199
75 .882 .118 4.4337 199.5157
100 .909 .091 4.5152 203.1861

Clearly, missle users are bad if your "front-line" fighters are better,
since you're replacing higher attack values with lower ones, and not getting
any extra "cheap targets" in return.

This is definitely counter-intuitive, and probably undesirable.
