DescriptionEssentially Racing provides players with a full fantasy Australian format thoroughbred horse racing world. Trainers build racing teams with their horse ages ranging from 2yo upwards and then submit nominations to race on the 12 card weekly race meeting. Different age group and distance races are programmed each week and a full yearly Racing Calendar is provided to plan out a horse's campaign. Group Race Carnivals run for half the 33 week season. There are around 20 players per game and players control 12-16 horses at any one time with up to 7 nominations available each week. A 10 page laser printed report, covering General Stable News, Trainers Tables, Auction Lists, All Purchases & Sales (by any stable), Personal & Open Messages between players, Race Results, Stewards Reports for each runner, Brief Race Overviews, New Racing Card Fixtures and Breeding News, is sent by snail mail each week. The game has a sound mathematical and logical basis with any "luck in running" based solely on ALL the trainers collective instructions for their chosen jockeys in that race. Different fitness preparation styles are available so that trainers can plan for their "strike" races and vary their attack each campaign for that horse. The game has been operational within Australia from Nov 96 and has a very low turnover of players, with stable vacancies becoming available intermittently. Not yet set up for international play.
