Description(Played in English, French, Russian, and Italian.) A completely computer-moderated game of world conquest. One of its nicest features is SAGA: the turn input/output program. You can either download your turns from Compuserve, or receive diskmailers. It also helps you avoid many errors. "PBM Locomotive", the International Game Master for Adventurer Kings, makes a special offer addressed to beginners: now you have the opportunity to participate in a completely free introductory 3 turn game (duration: about one week) that will give you an idea of how Adventurer Kings works, allowing you to enjoy its atmosphere.
OpinionAn excellent game, with a lot of factors which work well together. The SAGA program makes any entry errors your own, and Dave Snell seems to really work hard to make playing an enjoyable experience. Highly recommended. - minnotte@rice.edu (Michael Minnotte) Not terribly complicated, but a good fun game, made more so by the ease of Saga. - ry@attunix.att.com (Ryerson Schwark) An excellent game, much deeper than it first appears. Dave Snell (the GM) is one of the best in the business - joey.browning@datadim.com (Joey Browning) Another Opinion: There is too much luck in this game for my liking, especially in combat between characters. Magic rules, but if you muff your first spell (which can happen to anyone) and your opponent doesn't, you're toast. If you lose a few characters this way, you just can't do anything. -- Keith Wignall (ECON100@cantva.canterbury.ac.nz) And Yet Another Opinion: Played it for a short period of time. Semi-interesing character developement, crappy combat system and it's next to impossible to hold your provinces against a concerted enemy attack. You simply don't have the funds to stockpile armies in them for defesive purposes. On the good side, Llucky Llama Games has THE BEST customer service I've run across in 10 years of PBM gaming. I'll try some of their other games in the future for this fact alone. -- Paul DeMoss <dogdoc@earthlink.net> 1997feb21 [Dave Snell replies: There is ample opportunity to create a reserve of funds, if you play even moderately well.]
