"Supervolcano" is a natural-disaster role-playing game that tells the story of a terrifyingly plausible natural disaster capable of devastating the United States and the world.....
Yellowstone National Park sits on a hot spot: a plume of molten rock coming from deep inside our planet capable of volcanic eruptions far greater than any that have occurred in times past. It has been silent for millennia, providing false security for a nation, and a world, unprepared for the full force and fury of nature unleashed.
This hot spot is called the Yellowstone Supervolcano. It has erupted three times before: 2.1 million years ago, 1.3 million years ago, and 640,000 years ago. All three eruptions were thousands of times more powerful than the 1980 eruption of Mount Saint Helens.
An eruption as large as the first Yellowstone eruption sends lava and mud flowing toward populated areas. Clouds of ash drift across the country, nearly blanketing the land from coast to coast. The fallout destroys crops and livestock, clogs machinery, and makes cities uninhabitable. Those who survive find themselves facing the dawn of a new ice age as global temperatures plummet.
The story centers on our characters, who are spread across America and the world, refugees caught in an apocalyptic catastrophe in which mankind has no choice but to rise from the ashes and rebuild civilization.
Are you prepared for an eruption from the most powerful supervolcano on the planet? Can your character survive this volcanic apocalypse?
If you're interested in a natural-disaster, post-apocalyptic, survival game, join us! We're accepting character applications now. Create a character and tell his/her story. Tell the story that you choose to tell. Your character can be from any background, any U.S. state, or any country. A character sheet will be provided. The story begins in 2021. We'll cover events that happen before the eruption, during the eruption, and for years afterward.
To make the story interesting, we'll have plenty of sub-plots.
