Description

Antarctica-cold, remote, barren, and inhospitable-an international scientific team makes an astounding discovery deep beneath the glaciers: Rubidium-96, a rare radioactive substance that could have serious implications for the world.

Failure is not an option for anyone. Determined to secure the Rubidium-96 for itself, China mounts a massive invasion of Antarctica and seizes the research bases of the United States, United Kingdom, France, and other nations on the Continent and the islands nearby. This is in violation of the Antarctic Treaty, which prohibits military forces in Antarctica except for peaceful scientific purposes or to deliver supplies, and of international law.

Scientists at the research bases are taken hostage by Chinese forces. The United States and its allies are alarmed that the Rubidium-96 could easily fall into the hands of the Chinese and that the Russians are holding foreigners hostage.

Determined to end the crisis, the United Nations and the European Union mount diplomatic efforts to secure Chinese withdrawal from Antarctica, prevent the use of the Rubidium-96 material from being used for military purposes, the return of the research bases to the nations that own them, and to secure the release of the hostages.

But the Chinese refuse to withdraw from Antarctica and release the hostages. There is no choice but to use military force to secure the Rubidium-96 deposits, liberate the research bases, rescue the hostages, and expel the Chinese from the frozen continent.

The United States, Poland, Uruguay, Chile, Finland, Argentina, Germany, India, Australia, Brazil, France, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, Spain, Russia, South Korea, Pakistan, Peru, and the Czech Republic mount a massive military campaign to drive the Chinese from Antarctica.
