Description

History

Founded in 1991, STF existed originally on the Prodigy "Classic" network, which provided a unique bulletin-board style format. While most RPG groups conduct their actions in live chat, which requires everyone to be online at the same time, or play-by-email, which requires sifting through many messages on your email account, the WeBB provides a central location for our RPG. In January of 2008 Star-fleet.com got a completely new look. Along with the new look we now have a more stable and reliable system to have our RP fun. It is easier to navigate, and read text.

ABOUT STAR-FLEET.COM

Membership & Government

Our club has been growing steadily over the last 18 years, and now has a active membership size of 200 +. Of those 18 years, our club has had a ruling body of a President, Vice President and cabinet members. All members are encouraged to test their skills in helping out in the government where they can.

We have five departments, which are designed to support our membership in varying ways.

The Personnel Department assigns each new member to a ship, matching up their requirements with available positions on ships. Our Personnel Department also assigns a mentor to those new members who request one. A mentor is a seasoned player who can assist the new member with any questions or concerns they may have. Our Academy has two main interrelated roles. The first role is as a training environment for the brand new player in which the basics of bulletin board play are worked on and the only stupid question is the one unasked. The other role of the Academy is that it holds exams in the four main role playing areas, as well as Counselor, Department Head, Executive Officer, Commanding Officer and Gamemastering. Our Gamesmaster Department has the role of regulating our Gamesmasters to ensure they are giving our membership the best possible role playing experience. This Department works with the Academy in training future Gamemasters. The GMD also maintains the GM Register of all active, inactive and retired GameMasters and previous missions as well as a Reference Manual on STF specific races, powers and locations. Our Engineering Department ensures that all Roleplaying environments have ship and station specifications that are consistent with established Star Trek canon. These are accessible through a Technical Manual which lists these specifications as well as pieces of technology created by our membership. If you have a question related to technology within the Star Trek Universe, these are the people to ask! The last department is our Internet Department which is responsible for maintaing the system on which star-fleet.com runs. They may not be in the spotlight much, but when things go wrong, these are the people we all turn to for help. We are a 13+ group.

Our Fleets

All together we currently have six mainstream fleets in our club, each of which have five or more ships within the fleet. STF also has an Academy Fleet which currently consists of four training ships. We can comfortably say that at a total of 37 ships one can RP on, we have the largest number of ships, for a text based Star Trek RPG anywhere on the net. While most of these environments are set in the Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager Era on either ships or starbases, we do have some alternative environments. These are a Comedy ship, a Medical ship, an Enterprise era ship, an Original Series movies era ship and a planet based environment. We look forward to having you join us.
