Description

The 24th Century. The timeline of "Yesterday's Enterprise". The 20-year-long Federation-Klingon War is over and the Federation has lost. The Federation's most powerful battleship, the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, has been captured vanished. The Federation has surrendered and has signed a peace treaty with the Klingon Empire, the terms of which were harsh. The treaty was called "The New Order" and under the terms of the peace treaty imposed by the Klingon Empire, the United Federation of Planets was united no more. Starfleet was disbanded and its remaining ships destroyed. What used to be the Federation became a fractionalized territory of the Klingon Empire-split up into a scattering of planets that were small colonies, kingdoms, and anarchic free territories. Earth, Alpha Centauri, Vulcan, Andor, Tellar, Betazed, and other Federation planets were occupied by Klingon forces and its human inhabitants were enslaved.

Under the imposed rule of the Klingons, life was harsh. The Klingons ruled with an iron fist. Violation of Klingon law was punishable by death.

But peace did not come with the installation of the New Order. Major battles in several former Federation sectors mark the first anniversary of Klingon rule. And a small group of resistance fighters from all over the Federation are not about to submit to Klingon rule. This group, called "The United Federation Army", led by Captain Mackenzie Calhoun, the captain of the USS Excalibur in the Star Trek: New Frontier books which take place in the regular timeline, locates the Enterprise-D adrift in a nebula. She is taken to a hidden UFA base, repaired and refitted, and turned back into a formidable warship. Other Federation warships are also located, brought to the base, and given the same repairs and refits. Fighter craft are also built.

Meanwhile, the Klingons rapidly annex new territories to the Empire. The Gorn, the Tholians, the Ferengi, the Daa'Vitt (from the TNG novel "Reunion", the Sindareen from the TNG novel "Imzadi", the Xenexians from "New Frontier", and the Bajorans see the Klingon expansion as a threat and ally themselves with the Federation freedom fighters. The war for freedom has begun.

But the UFA may have more than the Klingons to contend with. The Romulans are planning a major invasion of former Federation space and the noncorporeal Organians, now evil, have sinister plans of their own! Join the fight for freedom! You can play as a UFA freedom fighter using any Star Trek race, as a Klingon, as a Gorn, Tholian, Ferengi, Daa'Vitt, Sindareen, Xenexian, Bajoran, Romulan, or Organian. Characters from TOS, TNG, DS9, and Voyager are permitted.
