Description

Politics USSR is a simulation of the government of the Soviet Union, presently beginning 1964 with the ouster of Nikita Khrushchev. The player takes on the role of a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, and attempts to rise through the ranks by hook or by crook. The game is run on a system of human moderation, and follows in the footsteps of similar games, such as Politics UK. There is a long-term intent to create a PHP-based simulation for the game, but at present it is forum-based.

The following is taken from the "Welcome to 1964" thread in the Setting Information.

---

It's been a turbulent time for Nikita Khrushchev. His support has dwindled, and he faces opposition from all sides as officials hungry for his job jostle to grab the power that crumbles from the First Secretary's throne.

Welcome to the Soviet Union.

It's a land of enigmas within mysteries, where everything is read between the lines, and where no one can ever feel completely secure -- not even the ruler himself.

With shadows looming behind the standing regime, debates are heating up across the Party. The right, the left and the centre hard line are all coming back into fruition, and the schisms which Stalin closed by force are opening back up.

...

With Khrushchev's power disintegrating, the scene has been set for a new struggle.

Who will come out on top? And how firm will their hold be?
