Description

Arcadia, a Star Trek-based PBEM, has been operating since 2001. Set aboard the quantum slipstream starship Arcadia, the sim has featured many thought-provoking storylines, memorable characters and grand adventures in the best spirit of Star Trek, all in a soft sci-fi vein. We put the "human" back in "the human adventure", focusing on exploration -- meaningful exploration of our world and ourselves. Plots are freeform and character-driven, determined by writers and characters, meaning anything can happen.

We're based on Star Trek only. Arcadia reimagines or reinterprets many details of the Trek universe (similar to Battlestar Galactica), creating a world that turns the Star Trek mythos on its ear. For example, in our reality, "Star Trek" was a TV show that inspired the "real" world around our characters. We aim for mature, intelligent, yet fun stories, and often tackle issues of modern-day interest. Immerse yourself in Arcadia and it's an experience you'll never forget!

We seek new contributors to join a group of loyal, friendly writers, and expand and enrich our universe. If you love to write, or just want to have fun, there's a spot for you, one and all! We aren't strict on rules, allow virtually any character you can imagine (many characters deemed unacceptable on other Trek sims have found a home with us), and we'll work with you to help you fit. You can portray a crew-member or civilian, human or alien, or anything you can imagine... your imagination is your only limit... and post as often as you like. If you're tired of issues resolved with phasers and shoot-'em-ups with the latest villain-of-the-week, and want to see what the other side of life in a Star Trek future can be like, come and be part of our adventure!
