DescriptionSix months after the ST: DS9 finale, the Dominion War is over and the Alpha Quadrant is beginning to recover from the devastation of the war. The Federation, Klingons, and Romulans are beginning to lick their wounds. But the situation is far from peaceful as a new crisis is brewing. On Bajor, a new isolationist faction has emerged which is opposed to Bajor's membership in the Federation and crusading for Bajor to become xenophobic..... On Cardassia, a coup has overthrown the government and plunged the devastated Cardassian empire into civil war..... In the Gamma Quadrant, the K'Vin, an insectoid race that has been under Dominion domination for centuries, has revolted against the Dominion. The Dominion is not the strong enough to stop them, and a K'Vin battle fleet is headed for the planet of the Founders on a mission of extermination.... And in a remote sector of Dominion space, a subspace conduit has opened. A cube has emerged. The Borg have arrived in the Gamma Quadrant....and they're invading...... On Deep Space Nine, Colonel Kira Nerys has been in command of the station since the "death" of Captain Benjamin Sisko. But with the new crisis, Starfleet and Bajor both agree that a Starfleet officer should command "Deep Space Nine". And Starfleet has just the man for the job: Captain George Zinn, currently the captain of the USS Carla Romney, a starship that served with distinction during the Dominion War.....but who has now retired.
