DescriptionThings That Go Bump in the Night is a game set in a modern gothic genre. Players will me members of three alien races resembling demons of mythology. These races are caught in a civil war among their own races, part of which is being waged on Earth. Players are either lost children or children of rebels who have hidden themselves among humans. The first changes usually occur at the onset of puberty. Others are late bloomers and may not change until early adulthood. Some may have been raised and taught the ways of their race by a parent. Others may be learning the hard way. Some may simply have been abandoned. Others may have been orphaned or left in the care of a human with or without knowledge of their nature. Races available as PC’s include 3 different types of demons. The Mogradoth are comparable to Pit Fiends and Balrogs with a culture comparable to Klingons. The Derahn are all female and similar to succubae. They are masters of biotechnology with limited shape shifting abilities. The Mak Taurog are a manga-ish humanoid shaped species with bat-like qualities. They are masters of hard technology, shadow and flight. They are devoted to logic. They are a reclusive species and unable to travel in daylight. The game will likely begin as a campaign of survival as the PC’s attempt to hide their natures from society, while feeding as they must upon humans (blood or life force depending on race). They may be hunted by members of their own race to be enslaved or recruited in a war. The adventures will be GM guided. Player exploration – especially as a group – will be encouraged. There will be rewards for cooperative efforts among players. (And it is probably your best chance for survival as a PC, not being retired to NPC-dom.) Characters should be submitted as normal humans, with appearance, career interests, hobbies, demeanors, motivations, and backgrounds. The more detailed, the better. The game is set in current times. Once the normal human is developed, racial templates will be applied. The Mogradoth are typically warriors. The Derahn are typically medical or social characters. And the Mak Taurog lean toward hard science and technology. Players should be able to post 3 to 5 times a week, with average lengths of posts not less than a few good paragraphs. Yahoo IM capabilities will be useful for JP’s (joint posts). The game is rated Mature (strong R), with gothic fantasy elements, horror, adult language and situations. No children please. We’ll be fading to black when things get too gritty. (Take it to private posts if that’s your cup of tea. I can handle it, but will keep it off site for the comfort of other players.) The first time you email me you will receive a spam blocker auto reply. I hate using it, but …
