DescriptionThis is an interactive - play by email - fiction writing club based on Star Fleet. The Year is 2382 and Star Fleet has established Far Point Fleet to work out of Star Base 25 at the edge of the known universe. Star Base 25 is located in the far reaches of the Beta Quadrant between known space and the Delta Quadrant. This is considered the most dangerous and exciting assignment that Star Fleet has to offer because only one known Federation vessel has ever traversed this region of space. The potential for excitement is greater here then anywhere else in the known universe. Do you have what it takes to explore the great unknown? Do you have what it takes to work so far from support and protection? Well if you do, then come join FAR POINT FLEET. ~More about the Fleet~ Far point fleet currently consists of four starships and a starbase. There is also an self-paced academy aboard the SB25 that will help you out if your new to simming. Our focus is on writing, character development and friendship among the players. Each ship and the starbase is represented by a Website, with an administrator who serves as the Captain. The Captain of each ship is responsible for directing the missions, directing the storyline as needed and resolving conflicts. If you are a role player, you can think of him as the GM or Game Master. Once a new mission has begun (either chosen by the Captain or suggested by members of the crew), the players contribute to the plot line of an unfolding story by adding their 'post' to the email list. Players generally post 1-2 times per week or when they have time to do so and some players may even post multiple times in one day. As you continue in the game and develop your character the Captain will, from time to time, announce that your character has attained the next rank. Just to include a little about posting mechanics, posts generally begin with an 'off section' in which the player can make whatever notes or announcements he or she feels are appropriate, and 'on section' in which the actual post is written, and another 'off section' that can serve as a kind of wrapping up area. Typically, two different styles of posting are used - a Novel style that looks more like a written story and a Script style that looks more like a movie script (including dialog and 'stage direction'). So now that you know a little more about the game, we'd be happy to have you join. Keep in mind that you will be able to update your character's history and personality as he or she develops. |
