Description

GFL is a free PBEM soccer league which has been running since September 2000. We have completed five seasons and are close to starting season 6 (Feb 04). GFL contains many top european leagues and we are currently looking for new managers.

League Structure/Competitions:

GFL League

The league consists of 8 teams in two divisions and a third division split into two leagues of 4 teams each. Each team plays each other team in their division twice per season, home and away (twice in Div 3) The division 3 playoff is played between the top two teams in division 3a and 3b, for the two promotion places.

The Cups - Starts off as four groups of six teams. Each team plays each other team in their group twice (home and away). After these matches have been played, the eight first and second placed teams go into the FA Cup Quarter Finals, the eight third and fourth placed teams go into the League Cup Quarter Finals and the eight fifth and sixth placed teams go into the FA Trophy Quarter Finals. The quarterfinals and semi finals consist of two legs, and the final and 3rd place playoff are one leg played at neutral venues.

Promotion and Relegation

Division One - 1st - Champions

Division One - 7th & 8th - Automatically Relegated

Division Two - 1st & 2nd - Automatically Promoted

Division Two - 7th & 8th - Automatically Relegated

Division Three A - 1st & 2nd - Go to Playoff

Division Three B - 1st & 2nd - Go to Playoff

Division Three Playoff - 1st & 2nd ? Promoted

GFL Supercup - At the end of the season, the FA Cup Winners will play the League Cup Winners.

The Community Shield - At the beginning of the season, the GFL Division 1 Winners from the previous season will play the League Cup Winners from the previous season. If the same team win both competitions, the GFL Division 1 Winners will play the League Cup Runners-up.

GFL Division Playoff

At the end of every season a competition will take place between the three divisions, each division making a team compiled of the best players in their respective divisions.

Other Competitions

The GFL may decide to arrange other small competitions that may be played during the off-season, there may be a world cup at the end of the season.

Community Shield: First - ?1m

End of Season Awards

The managers vote for these first two awards:

Manager of the Year - Who do you think has done the best this season.

Player of the Year - Which player do you think has performed best this season.

The following awards are decided by statistics:

Fair Play Team - The team that has the least number of disciplinary points awarded during a season.

Fair Play Players - The players that have no disciplinary points at all (if played >= 5 games)

Golden Boot - Top Goal scorer

Golden Jersey - Top Passer

Golden Studs - Top Tackler

Golden Gloves - Most Saves

Golden Leg - Top Assister

Golden Globe - Top Performer

The following are awarded for the above awards:

Manager of the Year - ?2m to team

Player of the Year - +1 to their main skill

Top Goal scorer - +1 to their Shooting

Most Passes - +1 to their Passing

Top Tackler - +1 to their Tackling

Most Saves - +1 to their Stopping

Top Assister - +1 to their primary skill

Top Performer - +1 to their primary skill

Fair Play Team - ?1m to team

Fair Play Players - +100 to primary skill Ab, team gets 50k

At the end of each season, every player under (and including) the age of 21 will get a skill increase of 1 in their main skill.

At the end of each season, every player over (and including) the age of 34 will get a skill decrease as follows:

(p = primary, s = highest secondary - if all 0 then take from p)

34 = -1 p skill

35 = -1 p skill -1 s skill

36 = -2 p skill -1 s skill -1 t skill

37 = -2 p skill -2 s skill -2 t skill

38 = -3 p skill -3 s skill -3 t skill

39 = -4 p skill -4 s skill -4 t skill

40 = -5 p skill -5 s skill -5 t skill

41 = -6 p skill -6 s skill -6 t skill

42 = -8 p skill -8 s skill -8 t skill

43 = -10 p skill -10 s skill -10 t skill

There is an active manager and agent transferlist and loans also take place.

GFL is part of EOF, which is an association of leagues, playing occasional tournaments

GFL may also take part in competitions organised by other leagues.
