Ari's Hand has been around for a long time now and has had several changes, including having me take over as the DM. We still have two of the original players and over the years have picked up many new ones (and lost most of them within a few days of joining - very normal for pbems). We have lost almost all of the ones picked up this year, so it is time for a new crop of goblin fodder. First, go to the original yahoogroups site at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/aris_hand/ and look around. If this is the kind of game for you, join up and post a request to join up. I'll try to get back to you right away and see what we can do. This is a 3.5E d&d game using a world created by a group of DMs back in the early days of 2nd edition d&d. The game has now moved out of the city. The group has 'borrowed' Princess Rowean's flag ship and is on a treasure hunt. So far, there are two warrior types who insist on wearing full, heavy armour on the high seas and in the blazing heat of the tropical days. As you will see, I let players do whatever they want. However, unlike 99% of the DMs I have played with, I do apply the in-game consequences for making foolish (but advantageous) choices. And despite having to fight battles with fatigue penalties and facing the possibility of sinking to the bottom of the sea while fighting underwater, they have all prevailed and continue to ignore the penalties. ;) Luck favours the insane. (And it is nearly impossible to drown according to the 3.5E rules.) I have done away with the customised rules and oddities. The game now adheres to 3.5E rules. Most EXP is earned through role-playing instead of killing monsters and is handed out each month. Posts are about once or twice a week since everyone is very busy. If combat breaks out, I try to keep it at one round per day. So, if you are insane or want to act that way, come by and see if you are the right kind of insane. The players who are still in the game are there because they all have problems, but they also know how to make them work for the team. Oh, and these guys like fighting. They do a lot of talking and pretend to be diplomatic, but in the end someone always brings a battleaxe to the peace talks... and nothing makes for a better peace than an axe to the side of the head. (At least that is their track record so far.) ;)
