Using the Rules for Submissions for Designing Names - Ever wanted to know what the Rules for Submission say you can or can't do regarding constructing SCA names? This class will go through the various name rules and give clear examples of how to apply them.

The History of European Archery (2 hours) - This will be a limited study in the overall history of archery and all of it's aspects. The first hour we will discuss the ancient origins of archery and the bow from pre history through the beginnings of Briton. We will end with a discussion on the Battle of Hastings and the role archery played in the fall of Saxon England. In the second hour we will discover how the bow and crossbow developed and the strategies that made these new emerging weapons so effective in the Hundred Years War. We will look closely at the three major battles of the war where the Longbow peaked as a weapon of war. We will end with an realistic look at what actually happened at Agincourt.

Making Wound Glass Beads: A Lampworking Demonstration and Practicum (2 hours) - This will be a chance to try, hands-on, the lampworking technique for making wound glass beads. Wound glass beads are found throughout the Middle Ages, and using lampworking one can duplicate almost any type of wound bead. There will be a demonstration held, and a chance to sign up for half-hour slots to try it yourself. Hands-on participants are asked to bring safety glasses if they have them. Everything else will be provided. There is a $6 fee for hands-on materials and handouts, although she'll waive it for those who are fascinated but impoverished. In addition, information will be available about La Compagnia dei Maestri del Vetro, the newly formed Glassworkers' Guild. Class limits: Demonstration: no limit Practicum: 9

Leatherworking - An introduction to Medieval leatherworking techniques for the creation of more authentic leathergoodes. In particular, we will discuss these in the context of making a Medieval Leather bottle.

Getting Started With Scrolls (2 hours) - A lecture/workshop about the scroll process and then basic illumination & calligraphy techniques. This will be more lecture on the scroll process the first hour and then with the time left, handouts on various techniques will be passed out (knotwork theory, vines theory depending on experienced versus new attendants and basic calligraphy). After the class a scriptorium will be opened the rest of the day for folks that want to practice techniques or get started on their first scroll.

Amateur Juggling 102 - This class will show the basics of juggling from developing hand-eye coordination, to juggling one object, two objects, three objects. HOW TO JUGGLE FOUR BUT I CAN'T and why and passing with three objects from single passing to continuous passing. Course will cover WHAT to juggle, WHY to juggle WHAT, and WHY NOT to juggle things such as clubs. Class limit: None. Course Requirements: You must bring three jugglable objects. These can be anything with a vaguely spheroid shape. Tennis balls, apples, handballs, bowling balls (discouraged but I've done it), basketballs, whatever. Note: No clubs or any other objects such as that. That's why it's called Amateur Juggling.

Scottish Garb (1000-1600 A.D.) - This will cover the types of clothing worn by rural Gaels in Scotland for the specified time period, with the majority of the information being about the 16th century. We will focus mainly on male clothing (since that is what the majority of the information available is on) but we will discuss female clothing as much as we can. With time available, we may get into how to actually construct the clothing, Although most patterns can be easily done by anyone who has ever made a T-Tunic. No class limit.

Heraldic Display - Okay, so you've gone through the entire heraldic process! What do you do with your new armory? This class is about fun, easy, and interesting ways to exploit your armory to it's fullest. Heraldry: it's just not for banners anymore.

Women in Medieval Literature - This class will cover literature of the Middle Ages on, by or about women. How literature affects the modern opinion of medieval women and how religious and secular texts were circulated by women will also be covered. Literature reference lists will be available for interested parties.

Weaving Narrow Bands (2 hours) - Great for belts, trim, straps, etc. Basic instruction and comparison between inkle weaving, card weaving, and rigid heddle. Some basic drafting of designs will also be covered.

11th Century Monarchy - We hold this class to be self evident, that all kings are not created equal. Who was the rightful King of England in 1066? The class will examine succession to the throne of England and the establishment of a dynastic monarchy in Britain.

Medieval Stained Glass: Aesthetic and Practical Considerations - This will be a review of Medieval stained glass design (including a discussion of subject matter, visual composition, and color choices) and construction practices. Practical considerations for SCAdians wishing to bring the beauty of stained glass into their homes and camps will also be discussed. The instructor will have on hand a selection of tools and materials and will discuss various aspects of each.

Easy Garb for Beginners and Pennsic (2 hours) - Student will receive instructions to make the following garb: Tamsin's 2 hour dress (Cavilier style), T Tunic, Arabic Dress, Men's 13th Century English Tunic, Easy Chemise, Easy Court Garb (Men and Women), Men's Great Kilt. There will also be a discussion about fabrics that represent period plus are comfortable for a Carolina Summer and tips for beginner sewers. Additionally, Students will make the bodice pattern for Tamsin's 2 hour dress. Required Materials (if making a 2 hour bodice pattern) - Wrapping or pattern paper, muslin or other scrap material (minimum 1 yard), pins, safety pins, sharpie, scissors. Class size - 10

Marshalling 100 - An interactive class with hands on marshalling. The purpose is to help teach marshals better positioning, and problem resolution. This class is not sponsored by the kingdom, nor is it part of any official training program, but rather is geared towards training existing marshals.

Beginning Needlelace - The class is designed to introduce someone to the techniques of needlelace as done in Western Europe during the 1500's. The class will teach the basic stitch and discuss techniques for creating designs. There will be actual pieces from period of Italian needlepoint, reticella and punto di aria for viewing. Limit 6
