Here's a copy of a letter I just mailed to the 14 people who wrote and
asked for advance copies of the dance music:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings from the Pennsic Dance Coordinator!

You wrote me, a while ago, asking for a copy of the Pennsic Pile,
which is the music collection we use at Pennsic. If you even remember
asking, you're probably wondering, "Hm, Pennsic starts in less than a
week, where's that music?"

Well, uh, I blew it. Although some things got well-organized this year
(lots of dance classes, evening activities, and the return of our
beautiful dance floor), the music collection received a lot of
attention from our volunteers, but didn't get delivered. I can't even
lay my hands on last year's Pileto send you one of those. Alas.

Fear not! There will still be dancing, and dance music, at Pennsic.
We'll be handing out copies of the music at the War, and I hope to see
you all show up at least once to play with the band. Here is some
information for your calendars:

Nightly dancing in the Barn, every night at 9pm.

The Pennsic Ball is Tuesday, 8/13, 9pm-1am. We could use every
musician we can get to help.

There are 2 special night-time parties in the dance tent that will
need musicians. The first is an "English Revel" on Sunday, 8/11. The
second is a pre-16th century dance party, on Thursday, 8/15. I will be
asking some of you in person to help with these; in general these
bands will need to be good sight-readers.

There are also 2 Caroso Balls, one "Caroso-style" (all our eras of
dance), and one "Real Caroso" (16th century Italian only.) These will
require heroic soloist musicians; if you fit the bill, please contact
me.
