pennsicdance: Pennsic A&S Coordinator, call for Barn

Hi guys --

Two apologies. First, if this is old news, ignore me. I haven't been
paying attention. My Barony has been in a tizzy what with One Thing
Or Another.

Second, I promised to write something up after Pennsic and I lamed
out. I will try to remedy that. Unfortunately it pertains....

I just discovered the PennsicXXXI site has a message from the A&S
Coordinator: http://www.pennsicwar.org/penn31/AANDS/index.html

Our new A&S Coordinator is Dame Catriona Mairghread nic Dhuibh of
Moray <monicaspence at compuserve.com>, mka Monica Spence.

The announcement says "I am responsible for scheduling all A&S tents
(except the Performing Arts tent). This will also include scheduling
tent use for each evening at the War. I will also be scheduling the
Barn. If you have activities that must be held in the Barn, please
contact me as quickly as possible."

Now, the thing I was going to write up was a recommendation on how we
could take collective action, to Preserve The Ancient Rights,
Privileges, And Prerogatives Of The Dance Masters And Dance Musicians
Of Pennsic -- such as scheduling the Dance Tent. ;)

Cause at the organizational meeting at Pennsic, we seemed to be in
agreement that we'd like to collectively take that responsibility. It
would lessen the burden on the A&S Coordinator, and allow us to
coordinate much closer/better than we could through the A&S office,
and to manage dance more closely (making sure there's a beginner class
every day at the same time, etc.)

I think notice means we need to act swiftly.

So: Unless someone has a better idea, this is what I have a mind to
do...

I'm gonna write me up a little document -- a sort of white paper --
about how I think we might get what we want, and make everyone else
happy too, and Advance the RenDance Agenda. I will post it here.

Presumably at that point argument will ensue. :)

Included in that white paper will be a draft Proposal to the A&S
Coordinator.

If people here think it's not terminally stupid, and we manage to iron
out the Proposal to some level of mutual OKness, then I will take the
final draft of the Proposal and call for signatories -- people who are
willing to be "charter members" and put their names and emails at the
bottom of the Proposal, indicating their support of the Proposal and
intention to participate in these responsibilities at Pennsic.
(Signatories will have to volunteer publically on this list, not in
private to me.) If we get, um, a lot (20?) we will have something
which looks like a cross between a petition and a really kick-ass
volunteer staff. I -- or better someone who wants to be the contact
with the A&S Coordinator (Juliana?) -- will then send the Proposal
with it's big list of supporters off to the A&S Coordinator.

Alternatively someone(s) will find my white paper terminally stupid,
and -- presumably -- counterpropose something.

How's that sound?
