The difference lies in whether or not the overall teacher expects
everyone to be paying attention to them or not. The noise level in the
Barn is not always that high. If it's low, one way to make it high is
to have 2 or 3 people start separately teaching in their sets, when
the overall dancemaster might think he can handle it without their
help.
Personally, if I'm in that situation, I'll just say something polite
to the people who are trying to be helpful. And if the background
noise is really high, then I'll be recruiting people to separately
teach...
