pennsicdance: Abbreviations and newbies

I have just joined this list and am unfamiliar with some of the 
abbreviations.  What exactly is a GOOP (I can guess at its meaning-out of 
period)?  Is there a FAQ for the SCA dance list that could be sent to this 
list?  Could long time members of the SCA dance list keep in mind that there 
may be large number of newbies and be careful with abbreviations for a couple 
of months?
