The Centre for Advanced Welsh Music Studies, University of Wales, Bangor,
in collaboration with the National Library of Wales, is organizing a
specialist symposium on the Robert ap Huw Manuscript (Lbl MS Add. 14905)
on Friday 24 June at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. A team of
invited researchers will share aspects of recent research on the
manuscript and its repertory though a mix of formal papers, roundtable
discussion and practical experimentation with harp and crwth. Themes will
include harmonic language, tuning and instrumental figuration. Admission
is free, but please contact Dr Sally Harper for further details.

8.00	Practical workshop session

The symposium will be followed on Saturday by a more general event open to
the general public, to include a recital and practical workshop led by the
harpist William Taylor. All are welcome to attend.

Discovering Robert ap Huw and his Manuscript of Early Welsh Harp Music
Saturday 25 June, 9.30-4.00
The National Library of Wales.

9.30 - 11.00: Introductory Presentations (free of charge, followed by

Robert ap Huw and early harp music in Wales (Sally Harper)
Introducing the manuscript (Daniel Huws)
Writing down the music (Paul Whittaker)
Playing the repertory (William Taylor)

11.30?3.30: Practical workshop with William Taylor (participants' fee 
GBP15, GBP10 concessions). This is open to harpists of all levels, using 
harps of all sizes and stringing materials. Observers are welcome (free 
of charge).

4.00: Short recital by William Taylor of music from the manuscript (free 
of charge, preceded by tea at 3.30).

Lunch (GBP6.50) will be available at the Pen Dinas restaurant for those 
who book in advance.

National Library as part of the exhibition "Encore! Cerddoriaeth yng
