Thanks for the suggestions!
I found the tunes you mentioned on the web.

"Edi Be Thu, Heven Queene" certainly works
well on the mandolin.  The tune goes up or down by a fifth in places, 
which is easy to play.

"Douce Dame Jolie" is a little "crooked".
The A part has 8 measures and the B part has 10.
It will take a few more nights practice to learn this one!
