Now, this doesn't particularly apply to us.  If I use a popular song as
the melodic basis of an original tune:

a) it's probably a parody.

b) it's probably not going to sound like a particularly authentic
   pre-1600's song.

c) it's probably not going to sell a gazillion copies and get me
   embroiled in a 30-year law suit.
