Todd McComb has a big early music CD database that's searchable at
www.medieval.org, but I'd like to point out an alternative at
freedb.org, which is basicaly a database built up by people converting
their CDs to mp3 format.
As an example, a search for "Watkins Ale" (an Elizabethan ballad) at
medieval.org came up with:
* Watkin's Ale
* Nutmeg and Ginger
* Pastyme with Good Companye
* Middle Ages Music
* The Musitians of Grope Lane
* Elizabethan & Jacobean Consort Music
* Music from the Time of the Spanish Armada
While freedb had:
Baltimore Consort / Watkins Ale: Music of the English Renaissance
Christopher Parkening / Virtuoso Duets with David Brandon, 2
Cythara / Cythara
Kenji Sano / Elizabethan Lute Ballads
Musicians of Swanne Alley / In the Streets and Theatres of London, 2
New London Consort / Elizabethan & Jacobean Consort Music
Sir William Walton / ;
Strawhead / Late Bottled Vintage
The York Waits / 1588 - Music from the time of the Spanish Armada
Trevor Pinnock / 16th Century English Harpsichord and Virginals Music
Various Artists / Shakespeare's Musick
