An alternative to recorders is to make your own 6 hole flutes out of PVC for
about 54 cents each. At that price you can make them up in any and all keys
you want. People are continually surprised at the quality of the sound from
my first attempt. It has a nice mellow sound. There are a number of web
pages that will show you how.
