i can't remember who said harsh--well music is a harsh
mistress at times. as someone who has made three
quarters of my living from it for twenty years i can
tell you the up and downs are not for the accountants
among us, the benefits are poor as well. 

knowing what i know now i likely wold have kept my
great job as a janitor for the greater victoria school
board i quit in 1981. but it seemed like a good idea
at the time.

i have had no return problem with lark, but mickey
likes me. being an ethnic acadien/cape breton gael
makes some american folkies think i'm really
authentic. it used to get me a few good festival out
west but, damnnit i've never writen the hit song you
need to retire.

alistair macgillivary wrote out on the mira. anne
murry sold eight million copies of it. he was a putz
like everybody else , now he's rolling in it. lucky
bugger.

he has written and collected a lot of great stuff, and
he's able to play while to drunk to walk.
