minstrel: Elizabethan solo songs?

Hello all,

I am relaying a question from a friend of mine.  He is a natural baritone, 
with both tenor and bass tendencies.  We have been looking all over for 
upbeat, Elizabethan English solo songs to add to his rep, but the only 
documentable stuff we've been able to find is part music or songs where the 
singer is somberly telling about lost love.  I know there's stuff out there, 
though..

Can anyone suggest any upbeat Elizabethan English solo favourites?  Are there 
any recordings you would recommend, in particular?  Recordings would also be 
a great place to start, I think.
