"Eventide" means evening and judging from the stanza
quoted, I'm going to guess this is a lullabye. I am
not familiar with this particular piece, however, the
spelling suggests to me that it's 14th or 15th century
English in origin. Darn if the books I DO have at this
end of the country aren't packed for another move.
Anybody have a collection of medieval English lyric
poetry handy?
