A friend asked me if I knew the origin of a song printed in an old book he
had from his Mother. The title is "Medieval Eventide Song" with no
attribution. To be honest, I am not all that sure what an "Eventide Song"
is. But I figured, if anyone knew where this one came from, then no one
would. I have included the first stanza below.
David Falcone
Come hither, lyttel childe, and lie upon my brest tonight
For yonder fares an angell yclad in raimaunt white,
And yonder sings ye angell as onely angells may,
And his songe ben of a garden that bloometh farre awaye.
