My understanding is that "Shool Aroon" is OOP, and refers to the Wild 
Geese - a group of Scot soldiers that went to France to fight in one of 
the innumerable wars in the 1700's.  My history's a bit rusty, and I don't 
have a source handy.  Just drawing on memory, from when I learned the song 
way a long time ago.  I think I first heard it on a Clannad album 
(Dulaman?), not sure.  The chorus was sung in Gaelic, not nonsense syllables.
