minstrel: Nordic music

The sad truth is you aren't going to find any documentably authentic music from that
period (to speak of--I won't guarantee there isn't a fragment somewhere). There is,
however, a marvelous CD by Sequentia, EDDA: MYTHS FROM MEDIEVAL ICELAND (Deutsche
Harmonnia Mundi 05472-77381-2) in which they attempt to reconstruct the performances of
the Eddas by drawing on Icelandic and Norwegian folk traditions. It's probably as close
as you're likely to get. All the music on it was improvised, but someone with a good ear
could probably figure out how to do something like it.
Good luck,
Tadhg
