It is regularly attributed to Palestrina, who lived 1525 - 1594, making it 
definitely just period.  The problem with dating the piece is compounded by 
the fact that "Grant Us Peace" is a part of the mass, and so everybody's 
"Missa" and "Requiem" usually contains a "Dona Nobis Pacem".  The 
Palestrina version is the common round, though.
